⚽️ Troon F.C. versus Pollok ⚽️
Saturday 30th April 2022
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 2pm

Pollok cemented their push for third position with a win at a rain-soaked Portland Park against a Troon side fatigued after the performance at Darvel in midweek.

The game began brightly despite the weather, and midfield schemer Jaime Gallagher was first to threaten Jordan Longmuir’s goal with a long distance drive but the keeper parried to safety. The exciting Matty Grant was first up for the visitors, a header from an Adam Forde corner flashing just wide. The opener came on the 14th minute under controversial circumstances. Good work from Forde released Chris Duff on the left & referee Chris Gentles pointed to the spot as he tumbled under challenge from Troon keeper Marc Fisher, for Dylan Dykes to strike home the spot-kick. Stuart McCann came close to doubling the lead, Forde again feeding Duff whose cross found McCann but Fisher pulled out a superb stop. Gentles & controversy were to appear again just before the interval, as Forde was shown a straight red card after launching into a tackle on Ben Black near the halfway line. Gentles viewed it as high & out of control, so the former Kilbirnie man was off for an early bath.

HALF-TIME: TROON F.C. 0-1 POLLOK

Troon introduced Sam Jamieson shortly after the break, and the former Rangers man was instantly active with a shot that Longmuir smothered, before Pollok doubled their lead. Livewire Grant was quick to beat Gallagher to a header, then race through to dink it past Fisher & Tommy Maitland to roll into the empty net on 71 minutes. Troon were far from down & out at this, and a Dale Moore corner met the head of Maitland for Grant Evans to clear before Troon had a spot-kick of their own in the closing stages. Ben Black was fouled by Mark Sideserf as he drove into the box, and Jamieson fired home a late consolation goal.

Referee: Chris Gentles
