The big games just keep on coming, and after an important win in the league all focus shifts to the West of Scotland Football League Cup and a huge Semi-Final match against our Ayrshire rivals Irvine Meadow XI.

Saturday 21st March 2026
Strathclyde Demolition West of Scotland Cup Semi-Final
Meadow Park, Irvine
Kick-off 2pm
After an impeccable January, February was almost a disappointment by comparison. But March is now back on track with two wins and a draw, the most recent being last Saturday’s win against Glenafton Athletic at Loch Park.
The challenges get tougher almost by each passing week, and we continue a very busy March with an extremely challenging trip to Meadow Park & our Ayrshire rivals in Irvine Meadow XI. There is plenty of excitement and anticipation about a WOSFL Cup Semi-Final amongst our supporters, hopefully the match will live up to the expectations.
Irvine Meadow may have endured a tough few seasons, but they are enjoying a revival under Jamie McKim and currently lead the way in the WOSFL First Division by 8 points from St. Roch’s as they plot their return to the Premier Division.
Hereβs everything you need to know ahead of Saturdayβs matchβ¦

Great to see some players returning to fitness to add competition to the squad ahead of a crucial run of games. Lewis Allan, Evan Ferguson and young Clayton Hood all returned to the squad last weekend at Glenafton after shaking off knocks, while Scott McLean is now close to a return to the pitch following his rehab after knee reconstructive surgery.
Kyle Faulds returns to the squad after missing last Saturday’s win at Glenafton due to suspension, and Kyle Gilroy also returns after missing last Saturday for a stag do.
Far better news regarding Jack Barr’s injury than we all feared at the time of his injury that caused the abandonment of the Cup match against Drumchapel. A serious neck injury was the concern at the time, fortunately that didn’t materialise and hopefully we’ll see him back in a Troon jersey before long.
Most serious concern just now appears to be defender Jack Sherrie, who was helped from the pitch at Kilwinning in January with a worrying looking knee injury. He is visiting a consultant next week to determine the extent of the damage, and then we will take it from there. Fingers crossed for good news, although it is feared his recovery will be more long-term rather than short.

It’s nearly time for one of the occasions that you’re in football for in the first place, a huge Cup semi-final at the home of one of your local rivals. It’s a day to look forward to, an occasion to savour but most importantly a match we are looking to win.
This will challenge us this weekend, Jamie McKim and Ryan Caddis were at our game at Glenafton on Saturday so they will know all about us coming into the match. But we’ve watched them this season as well, most notably against St. Roch’s a few weeks ago, so everyone’s done their homework and there will be few surprises. It’ll be a typical Ayrshire derby match I’m sure, but we need to focus on what we do & how we do it, and hope that is enough to get the result we are looking for.
This is the first non-Premier Division opponent we will have had in the West this season, so there is a curious adjustment required for the players in how they approach the match. But similarly, we will be Irvine Meadow’s first Premier Division opponent so we’ll see how they adjust to that. They’ve had a great season so far, albeit the only negative points have been Cup defeats to Cumnock & Johnstone Burgh, so I’m sure that will be in their minds. An interesting tactical battle for both sides awaits.
It was great to hear from the Chairman about the support heading to the match this weekend, and that can only be a boost to the players on the pitch. He’s done really well, offering a nice wee package to encourage some more fans on the supporters bus, so hopefully everyone can congregate behind the Troon dugouts & get together to cheer on the boys.
We need your support – more now than ever. This is an amazing time to be a Troon supporter, a really exciting squad & great times to come, but we need your unwavering support to help drive the players on to the next level.

β½οΈοΈ JOE WILTON β½οΈ

The 29 year old goalkeeper was a recent recruit in January by Jamie McKim, and he has already shown his quality between the sticks.
Joe suffered an injury in the final of the West of Scotland Cup against Auchinleck Talbot last season and he departed Largs Thistle in the summer, spending a period out of the game as he recovered from that injury.
He moved to Barrfields following Kilbirnie’s relegation in the summer of 2023 and he quickly proved himself to be a very safe pair of hands.
Having joined up at the Blasties after leaving BSC Glasgow (now Broomhill) in 2017, he is rapidly showing himself to be one of the top keepers in the West.
β½οΈοΈ BEN FERGUSON β½οΈ

A bit of an unknown quantity in the summer, Ben has proven to be a very shrewd signing by the management as his composure has belied his youth this season at the back for the ‘Medda.
He began his career in the famed Hamilton Academical Youth Academy, before moving to Queenβs Park and then to East Kilbride FC last September. He enjoyed a run of games in a loan spell at the end of last season at Broomhill in the Lowland League.
Tall, good in the air and quick across the ground, Ben is an old school pro for the modern game who is an out and out defender.

Irvine Meadow had a frustrating season last time out, a disappointing start led to the departure of popular Manager Ben Carson in January to be replaced by former Johnstone Burgh Manager Jamie McKim. Stability in the First Division was eventually secured, which allowed preparation to begin for the new season.
Troon enjoyed an excellent season in the Premier Division last term, spending the majority of the season in the top three before eventually finishing 4th in the 16 team WOSFL Premier Division 2024-25. Cups were the only place we came short last season, defeats to Armadale Thistle in the Scottish Junior Cup 5th round, St. Cadocβs in the WOSFL Cup and Arthurlie in the South Challenge Cup were a source of frustration.
