Troon are back on the road this Saturday, as they head up the Ayrshire coast to Largs for our South Challenge Cup 3rd Round clash.

⚽️ Largs Thistle versus Troon F.C. ⚽️
Saturday 20th November 2021
The South Challenge Cup (3rd Round)
Barrfields, Largs
Kick-off 1.30pm
Two wins out of two in November has proved the perfect tonic to a disappointing October so far, and Troon will be looking to continue that form with some season-defining games coming up, starting this weekend.
Last Saturday’s league win against Largs, following hot on the heels of the win against Rutherglen Glencairn, has Jimmy Kirkwood & Dean Keenan looking for our squad to continue this form and secure a place in the next round of the Cup.
Largs have endured a frustrating season so far, with performances deserving a better return of points than they are showing so far.
Largs currently sit in 18th place in the Premier Division table, 10 points behind us sitting in 10th.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

After a month of enforced absences, we are finally clear of suspensions & almost clear of injuries ahead of some important fixtures in the next few weeks.
Josh Black is resting a knee knock sustained against Rutherglen Glencairn a couple of weeks ago & Jaime Gallagher is away on holiday. Chris Murchie is recovering from surgery on the shoulder he injured against Pollok a few weeks ago, but he will hopefully be back in action early December.
After Dominic Lavelle moved on last week in search of first-team football, forward Ryan Nisbet has done the same joining Glenafton in a permanent transfer. Two good lads, we wish both well.
Of our long-term absentees, Todd Henderson is working hard as he recovers from surgery on his knee injury & he is back running at training with more to follow. Mark Morrison (knee) and Ross McCrea (knee) remain out.

Saturday was very pleasing from a coaching perspective. I thought we were clinical in both boxes, although there was maybe not much between the two teams. Saturday was evidence of that, it could have gone either way at times.
They will be wanting revenge straight away, so I expect them to be right up for this. Both squads will make changes I’m sure, so it’ll be another open game for the supporters to enjoy.
The South Challenge Cup is one we want to do well in, especially considering we have been eliminated from the West & the Junior Scottish.
I’d just like to thank Ryan Nisbet, who departed the club this week, and wish him all the best. Great wee guy, just didn’t work out for him lately.
Dean Keenan (Assistant Manager)

⚽️️ SCOTT ADAM ⚽️
An ever-present threat up front for Theesel, Scott leads the line with distinction at Barrfields and is the club’s dangerman for sure.
Tall, strong & with a great eye for goal, he’s a real handful for any defence.

⚽️️ JAMIE McGOWAN ⚽️
A player we all know very well indeed after his loan spell at Portland Park from Morton, “Jamma” has been a safe pair of hands for Largs since joining them from Dumbarton.
McGowan began his career at boyhood heroes St.Mirren, and he has been at Barrfields since 2019.

Troon were sitting second in the WOSFL Premier Division when the Covid restrictions shut down football last Christmas. Largs were sitting in sixth position, with three wins under their belt.
The two clubs did not play each other, as their games in January and then February were postponed before the league was eventually declared null and void following the latest Covid lockdown.
