Kick-off 1.30pm

Troon began November in the perfect style on the back of a disappointing October, and they’ll be looking to continue that with some massive games coming up, starting this weekend.

Last Saturday’s win against Rutherglen Glencairn helped put the embarrassing defeat to Ardeer behind us quickly, and Jimmy Kirkwood & Dean Keenan will be looking for our squad to continue this form and secure a strong position in the league.

Largs have had a disappointing season so far, although a recent upturn in form has given the Barrfields faithful cause for optimism.

Largs currently sit in 17th place in the Premier Division table, just 7 points behind us sitting in 10th.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

After a month of enforced absences, we are finally clear of suspensions & almost clear of injuries ahead of some important fixtures in the next few weeks.

Chris Murchie underwent surgery on Friday on the shoulder he injured against Pollok a few weeks ago, so he will be missing the next few weeks at least. Dominic Lavelle moved on this week in search of first-team football, but Stephen Wilson, Tommy Maitland & Raymond Montgomerie returned last week with no adverse reactions, so we have almost a full strength squad to choose from.

Of our long-term absentees, Mark Morrison (knee) remains out. Ross McCrea is working on his rehabilitation after a setback following surgery on his cruciate knee injury, all things going well we hope to welcome him back into the side at the turn of the year. Todd Henderson is grafting very hard indeed as he recovers from surgery on his knee injury & he is targeting a return to training very soon.

To go away from home, against a team above you in the league, and win is always great.

To do it in the manner we did is what really pleases us. It was a dominant performance, although the score line may indicate otherwise.

This Saturday will be another tough test; I expect it to be a very good football game, Largs and ourselves have similar styles and similar groups of players.

Hopefully we can win in front of our own fans, something that hasn’t happened often enough this campaign.

Dean Keenan (Assistant Manager)

⚽️️ STUART FAULDS ⚽️

A hugely underrated member of the Largs side, Stuart is an excellent midfielder & offers great protection to the defence.

Began his career in the Ayr United Academy, Faulds first moved to Barrfields in 2018 on loan & has been a fixture in the side ever since.

⚽️️ ROSS LOVE ⚽️

A solid centre-back with terrific composure for one so young, Ross is in his second spell at Barrfields after a loan spell from Ayr United.

Strong, good timing in the tackle & an aerial threat in both boxes, Ross is an excellent defender.

Troon were sitting second in the WOSFL Premier Division when the Covid restrictions shut down football last Christmas. Largs were sitting in sixth position, with three wins under their belt.

The two clubs did not play each other, as their games in January and then February were postponed before the league was eventually declared null and void following the latest Covid lockdown.
