After the excitement of Saturday’s Cup semi-final win, it’s back to league business and a midweek match under the Portland Park floodlights for our return encounter with Shotts Bon Accord and our 21st WOSFL Premier Division match of the season.

⚽️ Troon F.C. versus Shotts Bon Accord ⚽️
Wednesday 25th March 2026
WOSFL Premier Division
Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 7.30pm
After an impeccable January, February was almost a disappointment by comparison. But March is now very much back on track with a bang, Saturday’s win on penalties at Meadow Park the icing on top of the cake.
Focus re-shifts entirely to the league now for the next 5/6 weeks and the challenges get tougher almost by each passing week, and we continue a very busy March with an extremely tough clash against Shotts Bon Accord.
Shotts achieved their primary aim last season, which was to stay in the Premier Division. There were points it may have seemed difficult, but they stayed up at the expense of Benburb, Gartcairn & Darvel who dropped into the 1st Division. They have really kicked on this season, Manager John McKeown strengthened his squad in the summer with experienced campaigners like Marc McKenzie and Dylan McGuigan, and they got off to a bright start this season, comfortably sitting in mid-table with an eye towards that all-important top eight. They’ve suffered a real body blow with the news that their work at Hannah Park would not be completed in time for their SFA License, which is devastating news for all the hard-working people behind the scenes. Their form has dipped slightly of late, quite understandably, but they will be moving their attention to next season and going one better next time out.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Wednesday night’s match…

Very positive to see the queue for Darrell’s treatment table decreasing over the last few weeks, which could be vital ahead of a crucial run of games for the club.
Jack Allan sat out of our Cup match against Irvine Meadow last Saturday due to suspension, so he will return to the squad this week to add more firepower.
Young defender Jack Barr returned to training this week following the devastating injury that caused the abandonment of the Cup match against Drumchapel. He will continue his recovery in accordance with the SPFL concussion protocols St. Mirren have in place for him, and we’ll hopefully see him back on the field soon.
Most serious concern just now appears to be defender Jack Sherrie, who was helped from the pitch at Kilwinning in January with a worrying looking knee injury. He visited a consultant last week to determine the extent of the damage, once he receives the results we will take it from there. Fingers crossed for good news, although it is feared his recovery will be more long-term rather than short.

Pleased to win on the road last weekend, especially at somewhere we didn’t really perform last season. Drumchapel are full of experience, they certainly did a job on us twice last year but we were more than ready for them and that first half hour was probably as well as we’ve played this season. We showed a different side to us after that, we managed the game against a very good side and saw the result out. Different ways to win and all that, but we showed we have that in our locker. We’ll need that season for sure.
We all enjoyed a really exciting 3-4 win at Hannah Park in January (not good for the heart, though!) s
Fantastic news last week, as Troon received news that we were recommended for our Scottish FA Club License. Excellent news, and a massive well done to everyone who has put the work in to get the club to this stage. Given the upcoming league reconstruction this summer, a license was essential to be considered for promotion, so the league campaign is about to get exciting as teams vie for a place in the new Lowland League West for next season.
Here’s hoping Saturday’s match lives up to the billing, I’m quite sure it will. Look forward to seeing a big support!

⚽️️ ROBBIE TORRANCE ⚽️

Every team needs a stalwart at the back if they’re going to be successful, and that man is certainly Robbie Torrance for the Bonny.
A former Kilwinning & Bo’ness United defender, Robbie’s versatility can see him play at full-back as well, but it is at the heart of the defence where he has cemented his place at Hannah Park.
Signed by John McKeown in the summer of 2023, the 25 year old is nearing 100 competitive appearances for Shotts & he poses a threat in both boxes.
⚽️️ MARC McKENZIE ⚽️

A man of many clubs & with a wealth of experience, “Squib” might well be in his latter years, but he is showing no signs of slowing down any.
Previously played for Stenhousemuir, East Stirlingshire, Cowdenbeath, East Fife, Elgin City, Stirling Albion, Clyde and twice for Albion Rovers, as well as Arthurlie and Kilwinning before signing up at Hurlford in December 2018.
Brief spells at Forfar, Pollok & Camelon followed, before he headed to Hannah Park – the 18th club of an amazing career.

It was 2 draws out of 2 in the Premier Division between the sides last season, in two tight encounters.
HOME MATCH

| SHOTTS BON ACCORD | 0-0 | WOSFL Premier |
The sides had to be patient to play each other in 2024-25, before both games were eventually scheduled for the space of 6 weeks in the last two months of the season. Indeed, the first encounter of 2024-25 was a tightly contested affair under the floodlights at Portland Park.
Both sets of supporters could have been forgiven for wondering what the fuss was about, waiting 8 months into the season to get a game on between the two clubs, only to witness an instantly forgettable match in truly dreadful conditions.
0-0 probably flattered both teams in the end, but a point apiece and live to fight another day!
AWAY MATCH

| SHOTTS BON ACCORD | DREW | Hannah Park |
| TROON FOOTBALL CLUB | 1-1 | WOSFL Premier |
The return match in April was a proper game of two halves, an enthralling game to keep the travelling Seasiders on their toes!
It was a very disappointing first half from Troon, Shotts had much the better of the play and led at half-time thanks to an Ally Martin penalty just before the half hour. After a flurry of changes, it was an excellent second 45 from Troon who deservedly equalised late on with an excellensettle for a hard-earned point apiece.
