Troon are delighted to announce the signing of Calum Gow from Pollok.
The 30 year old centre-back began his career under Barry Ferguson at Clyde before he moved on to join his local side Clydebank in 2016. It was a loan move to Rossvale the following season which really kick started his career, however, as he became an important player under Manager Brian McGinty. When McGinty moved to Irvine Meadow as Manager, Gowser was one of his first signings as he spent four seasons at Meadow Park as Captain & a key man.
Murdo MacKinnon took Gow to Newlandsfield in the summer of 2022, where he once again became Captain. He went on to play for three seasons at the ‘Lok, eventually under former Kirkintilloch Rob Roy Manager Stewart Maxwell, before deciding to move on this summer as his contract ran down.
With Troon defender Logan Smith deciding to take a year out of football, a dominant defender became a priority in the transfer market this summer and Manager Jimmy Kirkwood was delighted to get his man.
Calum is a fantastic signing for us, he was a man in demand this summer & he chose to come to us, which is a real feather in our cap. He’s a player we have faced many times over the years & has always been a thorn in our side, so it’ll be good to have him on our side for a change! He gives us a threat in both boxes, and his leadership qualities will only make us stronger.
Calum will join Troon on 1st July, following the expiry of his contract at Pollok.
Welcome to Portland Park, Calum!
