⚽️ Kilwinning Rangers versus Troon F.C. ⚽️
Saturday 17th July 2021
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Kilwinning Sports Club, Kilwinning KA13 6LF
Kick-off 2pm
The Seasiders start the new season on the road as they head to the new Buffs Park at Kilwinning Sports Club on Saturday to take on their Ayrshire counterparts Kilwinning Rangers.
Jimmy Kirkwood’s men have had a confident pre-season and have successfully incorporated a number of new faces into the squad, but the Buffs have been racking up some impressive results & performances, so we could be in for a cracker this weekend.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

It’s a very different looking Troon side from the one that finished last season, due mainly to non-football complications. With Dean Keenan retiring, Ross Lundy unavailable for the foreseeable future due to work issues, Jack Sherrie poised for a move to the United States & the added absences thanks to Covid isolations, there are a few new faces for the watching Seagulls to learn!
New signings Ewan McLevy, Sam Jamieson, Marc Fisher, Ben Black, Darren Miller, Tommy Maitland and Sam McCloskey are all in the squad for this weekend’s match looking to make their competitive debuts after very promising pre-season debuts.
Of our long-term absentees, Mark Morrison is back in full training on the road to recovery after ankle surgery, and he hopes to be back before the end of the month. Ross McCrea is working on his rehabilitation after a setback following surgery on his cruciate knee injury, all things going well we hope to welcome him back into the side at the end of the year.

We’re looking forward to getting the league campaign underway. Hopefully a memorable season for the club on and off the pitch.
Players are in good spirits after a positive pre season although we know only too well how tough a game it’s going to be. They blooded our nose in a friendly earlier this pre-season and we will need to be at our absolute best to have any chance of coming away with a positive result. Kilwinning will be as strong a test as we could get for our first game. They’ve recruited incredibly well this summer & their squad is up there with the best.
Dean Keenan (Assistant Manager)
Getting back to proper football, in front of supporters, is going to be fantastic and the players are all looking forward to that. Pre-season has been great to see limited numbers of supporters back in, but a proper crowd will make a world of difference.

⚽️️ CARLO MONTI ⚽️
An absolute Rolls-Royce of a footballer, Carlo has frequently been the thorn in a Troon side whether it be with Kilwinning or with his previous club, Pollok.
Most effective as a number 10, Carlo’ s wand of a left foot is a danger to any team at any time of a match.

⚽️ DAVID SYME ⚽️
A player we all know very well indeed, Davie has been a rock at the heart of the Kilwinning defence since joining from Troon back in 2018.
Began his career at Kilmarnock before joining Partick, Davie made 42 senior appearances before moving to Portland Park aged just 20.

Troon and Kilwinning didn’t face each other during the 2020-21 season, which was eventually declared null & void due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
In the first encounter of 2019-20, which was our first ever trip to the brand new Buffs Park, Kilwinning recorded a 3-2 victory last October at Buffs Park thanks to a double from Alex McWaters and a strike from Ben Lewis. Dylan Pooler and Jack Sherrie replied for the Seasiders.
The return match in February, our penultimate match in Junior football, was a tight affair that ended 1-1, goals coming from Calvin Kemp & Mark Morrison.
