Troon are delighted to announce the signing of Darren Miller from Irvine Meadow XI.

A centre-back with considerable experience, but capable of playing at full-back or midfield, 31 year old Darren began his Junior career with his local team Ardeer Thistle, before he cut his teeth in the North Ayrshire Amateur ranks for a few years. He returned to the Juniors with Ardrossan Winton Rovers in 2011 before a brief sojourn at Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, returning to Winton Park & then earning a move to then-ADL Champions Kilwinning Rangers. Short stays at Ardeer & Dalry later, he returned to Winton Park for a third spell before his move to Meadow Park in 2017.

With James McGowan signing permanently for Albion Rovers after a hugely successful loan period, Darren’s experience is the ideal addition to our miserly back line which performed so well last season, and gave our team the perfect platform to build upon.

As with Sam McCloskey & Tommy Maitland, we would like to put on record our thanks to Lyn McFarlane at Irvine Meadow XI for releasing Darren from his contract early to permit him to take part in our pre-season properly, much appreciated.

Welcome to the club, Darren!
