Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 2pm

After a successful first half of the season in 2021, Jimmy Kirkwood’s men have made a perfect start to 2022 thus far.

The comfortable 2-0 win over Blantyre was our third in succession this year, following the win over Kirkintilloch Rob Roy and the 5-3 victory over Bonnyton Thistle.

Cumnock currently sit in 12th place in the WOSFL Premier Division table on 34 points, as Troon sit in 7th place in the 20 team WOSFL on 39 points.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

Our squad is almost back to full health, after the festive break came at a good time for us to rest some battle-weary players.

Josh Black returned in our closed doors game against Albion Rovers last Monday & he will feature amongst the substitutes this weekend. Mark Morrison has returned to the pitch in the last couple of weeks after surgery last year, which has been a massive boost for the squad, and we are hoping to get him back up to 100% in the coming weeks. Jack Sherrie returns after illness, while Ben Black returns from suspension for today’s game, after his controversial red card against Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

Of our long-term absentees, Todd Henderson has returned to training after injury & hopefully we will see him back in a Troon jersey very soon. Ross McCrea (knee) remains out.

What a fantastic run of games we’re on just now & it’s very much been the message to the lads, we just take it one game at a time & keep that run going. But we have to compliment them to a man, they’ve been superb since November really, they’ve given us everything they’ve got.

Disappointing that the Sauchie game was called off, but hardly a surprise. We were all expecting it given last week’s forecast, just wish they had done it before Richard ended up 2 minutes away from the ground! Plenty of motivation for us in a few weeks time, that’s for sure.

Jimmy Kirkwood (Manager)

⚽️️ JAMIE WILSON ⚽️

League winner, Scottish Cup winner, League Cup winner. There have been few better midfielders in the West in the last decade than Jamie, such was his impact with Beith.

After brief forays with St. Cadoc’s & Hurlford, he is looking to settle at Townhead Park. A strong influence.

⚽️️ JORDAN MOORE ⚽️

The latest arrival at Townhead, Jordan hit the headlines earlier this season with a phenomenal start to the season with Bellshill which earned him a move to  Pollok in October.

Began his career with Stenhousemuir then Motherwell, Cumnock hope he will spearhead their attack for years to come.

Troon and Cumnock didn’t face each other during the 2020-21 season, which was eventually declared null & void due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

In our first encounter of 2019-20, the teams played out an exciting 1-1 draw in August 2019 at Portland Park thanks to strikes from Evan Maley & Jordan Banks.

The return match in March was postponed & eventually cancelled after the first national lockdown was announced just the night before.
