After a marathon of a season, we head home for the grand finalé – our 30th and final WOSFL Premier Division match of the season, and a visit from our old friends from Arthurlie for a grand day out to celebrate a momentous season, the most successful in our history.

⚽️ Troon F.C. versus Arthurlie ⚽️
Saturday 16th May 2026
WOSFL Premier Division Finalé
Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 2pm
What a season it has been at Troon Football Club!
- First, we secured our status as a Scottish FA Licensed Club in March, which made us eligible for promotion at the end of the season and will see us take part in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup for the first time ever next season.
- The key target for the season of promotion to the Lowland League West for 2026/27 was confirmed with six matches to spare, which will see us compete at the fifth tier of Scottish football for the first time in the club’s 80 year history.
- Secured a club record highest league finish, after guaranteeing a top 3 finish in the WOSFL Premier Division this season.
- And then came last Sunday, as we reached the first Cup Final since 2016 and lifted the first piece of silverware since 2014, defeating Auchinleck Talbot 1-0 at Broadwood to lift the West of Scotland Cup.
Our phenomenal run of form in the league this season has seen us top the table in all but one week since October, and in the last week of the season it has probably never been tighter at the top. Cumnock and Talbot will probably both consider themselves to be favourites at this stage, even if last Saturday’s defeat will see us out of the race at the last hurdle.
Arthurlie have had a fantastic season back in the Premier Division under Manager Willie Dyer, and they sit 9th in the table coming into this weekend as well as a very close second in the goalscoring charts. They are a side to be very wary of after bouncing straight back from relegation at the first attempt last season, and with news of their new stadium progressing every week, it’s a bright time to be a fan of the ‘Lie!
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

Jack Allan had to be withdrawn early on last Saturday against Beith, and Luke Watt was forced off at half-time both with groin injuries which might see them miss out this weekend.
Our only other absences are our long-term injuries. Club Captain Mark Morrison had endured a really difficult season for him due to injury, and he is scheduled for surgery once the season finishes in a bid to be fit for pre-season and put this hell behind him.
Defender Jack Sherrie has received the news everyone dreaded, which is he has a complete tear in his ACL that requires knee reconstruction surgery. Terrible news for Jack, our longest-serving player and a hugely popular character around the club. But at least he can start to look forwards and begin the long road to recovery.

Ah jeez, what do I say about last week? I think it’s safe to say nobody really saw that coming. Beith are a very good side, I’ve said a few times this season their league position is false, so there is absolutely no shame in losing up there at all – but I think the margin will have surprised a fair few people across the league at the weekend, especially given what was at stake. The first half was individual mistakes, which the boys have largely avoided this season, and my thought process at half-time was kind of “here goes nothing” to an extent. We rolled the dice & took a gamble (even a draw was no good to us, let alone a 2-0 defeat) so we properly went for it and went for the jugular. But when TC broke away to score the third it was realistically over. I was hoping with 5 forwards on the pitch we would get some shots at goal, but it was just a day to forget all round.
It’s a sore one, I was gutted on Saturday night, but we need to pick ourselves up and put on a show for ourselves and for our supporters this weekend to round a sensational season off. In terms of the league, I can’t see it happening now, but if we lift 3 points then you just never know. Win the game is all we can do, and finish the season on a high.
Our season might end on Saturday, but there is still one very special match still to be played. Our Development Team have already won their League and now they are playing in the Robbie Meiklem Cup Final on Sunday at Whitletts ground, so make sure you all head along & give the Troon stars of tomorrow your support. We’ve already seen some very talented young players involved in the first team (Rohan, Clayton, Kieran and Rhys, just to name a few) so plenty to be enthusiastic about in that side for sure. 2pm kick-off, not to be missed.
Our support has been absolutely superb this season, this coming Saturday is our turn to celebrate a truly magnificent & historic season in the history of the club. Let’s all get down & enjoy ourselves!

⚽️️ MICHAEL MacNEIL ⚽️

The 27 year old is Barrhead born & bred, and as Club Captain he leads from the front when it comes to his hometown club.
Mick joined the Arthurlie youth pathway in 2013 from Barrhead United and progressed through the ranks to their Under 21 side, before spending the COVID season with near-neighbours Neilston. He returned to Dunterlie in 2021 by their then Manager Duncan Sinclair, and he is the clubs leader in the back line.
On his day, he is easily one of the best defenders in the league. A real threat in both boxes.
⚽️️ MARK TAYLOR ⚽️

A summer signing in 2024 from Castlemilk OBC, “Sparky” has been a revelation at Dunterlie. He boasts a superb tally of 14 goals in 20 league matches this season (39 goals in 53 starts since joining) but that only tells some of the story.
The towering frontman leads the front line superbly, as well as being an asset in their own box at set pieces, and he is deceptively quick.
One to watch for sure.

Arthurlie had a real rollercoaster of a season last time out, but it all ended well – with them lifting the 1st Division Trophy in May!
They enjoyed a real barnstorming start to last season, and they were really hitting top form just as they rocked up at Portland Park in November for South Challenge Cup action. Their summer recruitment of Aaron Healy from Queens Park, Mark Taylor and Kieran Brophy to add to Tam McGaughey & Scott Anson gave them incredible firepower in what was essentially still a Premier Division squad, and they bounced straight back at the first time of asking to vindicate all of the committee’s actions.
Troon enjoyed an excellent season in the Premier Division last term, spending the majority of the season in the top three before eventually finishing 4th in the 16 team WOSFL Premier Division 2024-25. Cups were the only place we came short last season, defeats to Armadale Thistle in the Scottish Junior Cup 5th round, St. Cadoc’s in the WOSFL Cup and Arthurlie in the South Challenge Cup were a source of frustration.

Despite being in different leagues last season, we faced each other in Cup action and last season it was the Barrhead side who edged the contest and progressed to face Clydebank in the 5th round.
In pretty wild wintry conditions, Arthurlie took an early lead in the 9th minute thanks to talisman Lee Roulston and they rode the storm as Troon huffed and puffed a little. Roulston struck again just as Troon looked to be building some momentum just before half-time, before Nathan Baird halved the deficit on the 69th minute. But Arthurlie it was who progressed victorious.
