The big matches just keep coming, and it’s a trip to a supporter’s favourite away day of Bellsdale Park and our old friends from Beith for our 29th and penultimate WOSFL Premier Division match of the season.

β½οΈ Beith versus Troon F.C. β½οΈ
Saturday 9th May 2026
WOSFL Premier Division
Bellsdale Park, Beith
Kick-off 2pm
What a season it has been so far at Troon Football Club!
- First, we secured our status as a Scottish FA Licensed Club in March, which made us eligible for promotion at the end of the season and will see us take part in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup for the first time ever next season.
- The key target for the season of promotion to the Lowland League West for 2026/27 was confirmed with six matches to spare, which will see us compete at the fifth tier of Scottish football for the first time in the club’s 80 year history.
- Secured a club record highest league finish, after guaranteeing a top 3 finish in the WOSFL Premier Division this season.
- And then came last Sunday, as we reached the first Cup Final since 2016 and lifted the first piece of silverware since 2014, defeating Auchinleck Talbot 1-0 at Broadwood to lift the West of Scotland Cup.
Our phenomenal run of form in the league has seen us top the table in all but one week since October, and with just 1 week to the league finalΓ© it has probably never been tighter at the top with any of Troon, Cumnock or Talbot still considering themselves favourites. Could this league be won on goal difference? It’s just that tight.
Beith have had a difficult season so far, certainly in comparison to recent reasons, although their form has shown signs of recovery of late which will give the Cabes supporterβs a glimmer of hope. The club saw a real summer of flux in 2025, which seemed inevitable after Chris Strain stepped down as Manager just before our match in March. A massive number of players departed for pastures new in May, and a strong period of recruitment followedΒ the appointment of Manager Michael Dunlop as the club certainly backed their new man. They started the season slowly, but since the turn of the year real shoots of recovery have been visible & both results & performances have steadily improved. Will they be the side who sneak into the promotion spots in the last game, or will they come to rue their early season form?
Hereβs everything you need to know ahead of Saturdayβs matchβ¦

Very unusually for this stage of the season, Jimmy should have pretty much a full squad to choose from when Saturday comes around. A few wee niggles and knocks, sure, but a determined squad looking to make history & determined to be a part of it all.
Our only absences are our long-term injuries. Club Captain Mark Morrison had endured a really difficult season for him due to injury, and he is scheduled for surgery once the season finishes in a bid to be fit for pre-season and put this hell behind him.
DefenderΒ Jack Sherrie has received the news everyone dreaded, which is he has a complete tear in his ACL that requires knee reconstruction surgery. Terrible news for Jack, our longest-serving player and a hugely popular character around the club. But at least he can start to look forwards and begin the long road to recovery.

The “business end of the season” has now officially transitioned into “squeaky bum time” and from 30 games in a season we are now down to 2.
Last weekend will take quite some beating! I thought as a club, we were exemplary last weekend. To take six supporters buses to a Cup Final, outnumber the opposition support, a huge sea of blue & black, all the youth teams singing their hearts out for 90+ minutes and then the players to perform the way they did made it a massively proud moment for our club. Every single person played their part last weekend, and for that you should all be proud as well, but I would like to say a particular well done to our Chairman and to Richard for everything they did in the build-up to the Final. Did a splendid job, worked tirelessly & they both looked knackered at the end of Sunday. And I’m not surprised! Our club is lucky to have them.
A special mention this week to one hugely important lad who missed last Sunday’s celebrations, but for the very best of reasons. Callan Veitch and his partner Payton welcomed their first child in the early hours of Monday, as Koden Veitch was born. Congratulations to both of them, absolutely fantastic news & everyone at the club is delighted for them!
We have been focussing 100% on Saturday this week, and the players have really impressed me with their focus since Sunday. The hunger in that dressing room is showing no sign of abating, and we are pushing for the highest finish we can get. The basics of that don’t change from our approach pretty much all season; we take one game at a time. Everyone has been doing all sorts of maths to work out the permutations, but it’s really simple. We need to focus on our job and as far as what’s going on elsewhere, what will be will be. Beith will be the trickiest of opponents this weekend, they are in a five team fight for the final three promotion spots and will be going all out for a win on Saturday. It’s sure to be a fascinating encounter.
Our support has been absolutely superb this season, but please – one final push. Let’s get everyone up to Beith on Saturday, and down to Portland Park next Saturday to cheer the team on through thick & thin for these final two games. You just never know.

β½οΈοΈ THOMAS COLLINS β½οΈ

“BoJo” as he’s affectionately known round Bellsdale, is the marquee signing of the season as he re-joined his old club in February for a third spell on a permanent basis from Lowland League side Clydebank following a prolonged period out through injury. He has now contributed 9 goals in 18 appearances this season since his return as he has helped nudge Beith up the table towards the promotion spots.
The 29 year old began his career at Queens Park and joined Beith in the summer of 2015, scoring a penalty in the shoot-out win as they lifted the Scottish Junior Cup at Rugby Park. Some strong performances saw TC move up the leagues & he enjoyed spells at BSC Glasgow, East Fife & Stenhousemuir before he rejoined the WOSFL and Kilwinning Rangers. After two seasons, he headed to Holm Park & lifted the WOSFL Premier Division trophy in May.

The 21 year old shot-stopper was an excellent signing for the Cabes as they solved a problem position since Owen Stott’s departure. The youngster has already made a strong impression in the WOSFL Premier at Gartcairn, another player who previously played under Mick Dunlop.
Began his career with hometown club Queen of the South, where he spent nearly a decade and made a handful of appearances. Loan spells with Dalbeattie Star, Gartcairn and Gretna 2008 followed to give him first team experience, before a permanent move to Gartcairn in January 2025.
He impressed in that spell & now comes into the Beith goal with a growing reputation. His qualities and presence will be vital at Bellsdale under his former Gartcairn gaffer.

It was 2 wins out of 2 in the Premier Division for the Seasiders last season with two very impressive performances and no shortage of goals.
HOME MATCH
| Saturday 5th October 2024 | Match Centre |
| TROON FOOTBALL CLUB | WON | Portland Park |
| BEITH | 4-1 | WOSFL Premier |
The first encounter of 2024-25 was a barnstorming affair.
Fraser Malcolm gave the visitors the perfect start with a 6th minute strike, before Leyton Dunlop restored parity only 3 minutes later with a well-worked team goal. Dean Fulton gave the swashbuckling Seasiders’ the lead with another free-flowing move just six minutes later and the same man threatened to extend that lead only a minute or two after that but Stott saved. Beith came back into the match after that without threatening Burgess’ goal, before Stevie Noble controversially saw red in the 29th minute for a second bookable offence. A half-time stramash in the tunnel between both teams really set the temperatures racing!
Beith started the better of the two teams once again, only to find themselves further behind thanks to Sam Jamieson’s 53rd minute goal before Callan Veitch rounded off the scoring in the 57th minute to set Troon on their way to an ultimately comfortable victory.
AWAY MATCH
| Saturday 8th March 2025 | Match Centre |
| BEITH | WON | New Tinto Park |
| TROON FOOTBALL CLUB | 0-5 | WOSFL Premier |
The return match in March was to be another fantastic performance from the Seasiders at Bellsdale, the scene of a few excellent displays for Troon in recent seasons.
Following the shock resignation of Manager Chris Strain during the preceding week, Shaun Dillon was appointed interim Manager with little time to make his mark before the game. After an exciting start to the match, Leyton Dunlop put the visitors ahead after 14 minutes and goals from Kyle Gilroy and Stephen Bronsky saw Troon comfortable at half-time. Mark Morrison and another from Bronsky late on sparked bowling celebrations from the Troon players & secured maximum points
