Scott McLean joins Maybole on loan

Experienced Troon forward Scott McLean has this week joined WOSFL Second Division promotion chasers Maybole on loan until the end of the season to further his recovery from serious injury.

The 28 year old re-joined up at Portland Park in the summer of 2024 after leaving Glenafton. Scott initially enjoyed a successful spell in the number 10 position with the Seasiders in season 2017-18 in our promotion year back to the Premier Division, finishing as our top scorer with 14 goals from 18 matches before he departed for League One side Albion Rovers in March 2018.

Scott suffered a cruciate ligament injury last year and has unfortunately only been restricted to only 4 substitute appearances last season, before he made his first team return last Saturday as a late substitute against Rutherglen Glencairn. He now needs regular football to get himself back to the levels he was at before, and he’ll get that with Maybole.

With our former player & Development Team Coach Tony Murphy taking over as Maybole Manager last week, we know Scott will be in good hands. He joins our young starlet Rhys Oyegbesan in the Ladywell side who are sitting in 10th position & chasing a top 8 position which will see them compete an immediate return to the 1st Division next season.

All the very best, Scotty!
