PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Hamish B. Allan Stadium, Rutherglen
Kick-off 2pm

Troon come into this game on the back of a disappointing October, following a very fruitful September.

Last weekend’s embarrassing defeat to Ardeer needs to be put behind us quickly, and Jimmy Kirkwood & Dean Keenan will be looking for our squad to return to the form we showed in September where we climbed to a strong position in the league. This weekend’s game seems as good a place as any to start.

Rutherglen have had a solid season so far with 7 wins out of 17, despite their Manager Willie Harvey missing a large chunk of the campaign due to illness. Thankfully, Willie appears to be making a recovery & will hopefully be attending this weekend’s match.

Rutherglen currently sit in 9th place in the Premier Division table, just 4 points ahead of us sitting in 12th.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

After a month of enforced absences, we are finally clear of suspensions & almost clear of injuries ahead of some important fixtures in the next few weeks.

Chris Murchie damaged his shoulder against Pollok a couple of weeks ago which may require surgery, so he will be missing the next few weeks at least. Stephen Wilson, Tommy Maitland & Raymond Montgomerie return after missing last week, so we have almost a full strength squad to choose from.

Of our long-term absentees, Mark Morrison (knee) remains out. Ross McCrea is working on his rehabilitation after a setback following surgery on his cruciate knee injury, all things going well we hope to welcome him back into the side at the turn of the year. Todd Henderson is grafting very hard indeed as he recovers from surgery on his knee injury & he is targeting a return to training very soon.

Apologies to all involved with the club for last week. Saturday fell well below the standards we accept as a football club, and that message has been reiterated to the players this week at training.

It’s been a season of ups and downs so far and if we are to survive we need to start being more consistent with our performances. Then in turn our results will improve.

Rutherglen Glencairn deserve to be higher in the league from what I’ve seen. They’re a very dangerous team, so this will be a very, very tough game.

We will need to be at our absolute best to get anything from the game.

Dean Keenan (Assistant Manager)

⚽️️ MICK O’BYRNE ⚽️

Joined up at Glencairn last summer after 5 seasons at Kilbirnie Ladeside, Mick will be a key player again this season at the Hamish B. Allan Stadium.

Began his career at Dundee United before moves to Albion Rovers, Livingston & Airdrie.

Rutherglen Glencairn 'hit by a train' with difficult start to season ahead of Pollok clash, says Tam Miller - Daily Record

⚽️️ THOMAS MILLER ⚽️

He may be 37 now, but Tam is still an outstanding player at the back for Glencairn.

Spent the majority of his senior career with St. Anthony’s before a spell with Renfrew, he is equally comfortable at full-back or in the heart of the defence & is always a reliable performer.

Troon seemed to have the hex sign over this week’s hosts last season, which was ultimately ended early due to the Covid 19 lockdowns.

Troon were the victors in the first clash of the season at the Hamish B. Allan Stadium, edging the contest 2-1 thanks to goals from Dean Fulton and Isaac Kerr as both sides finished with 10 men.

In the return leg, Ryan Stevenson scored the only goal of the game as the home side made it 6 points from 6 in our encounters last term.

Rutherglen were sitting 3rd bottom of the Premier Division at the time of the shut-down, having endured a difficult campaign that garnered just three points.
