Away days are back!
After last weekend’s curtain raiser, we make the shortest of trips to Buffs Park to face Kilwinning Rangers in our first away match of the new WOSFL season.

⚽️ Kilwinning Rangers versus Troon F.C. ⚽️
Saturday 6th August 2022
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Buffs Park, Kilwinning
Kick-off 2pm
Jimmy Kirkwood’s men have had a promising pre-season, and plenty of last weekend’s performance against Auchinleck Talbot will have pleased the management team & spectators alike.
Kilwinning Rangers made the perfect start to their campaign last weekend with an away win at local rivals Irvine Meadow XI, only to see the result embroiled in controversy after an administration error which may see them seeking their first points again this Saturday.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

Ewan McLevy & Tommy Maitland both return from suspensions completed last weekend, and both Darren Miller & Dale Moore have returned from holiday, so the squad is in rude health & keen to get going.
Summer signings Dale Burgess, Logan Smith & Kyle Gilroy all made impressive competitive debuts for the club last weekend, particularly Gilroy with a beautiful strike which levelled the scores.
We no longer have a “long-term absentees” list as Todd Henderson made his comeback from injury in midweek with his first 45 minutes in 18 months for the Development Team, which is great to see after his knee issues. He can look forward to more involvement with the Development Team to get his sharpness back up before he features for the first team again in the coming weeks.

Last weekend’s game was a very impressive performance, but ultimately we left with 0 points. That isn’t enough for us any more, we are looking to do better than that this season. The big target for us now has to be the result & as hard as that’s going to be on Saturday, it has to be the main aim.
We had a really good squad last year, and Burgess, Smith & Gilroy clearly make us better. If we keep creating the chances we have been, our front line are more than good enough to go & kill teams off.
Jimmy Kirkwood (Manager)

⚽️️ KEVIN NICOLL ⚽️
36 year old Kevin is returning to Kilwinning after 17 years in the senior leagues in Scottish football, with the likes of Albion Rovers, Stranraer, Dumbarton, Arbroath, Forfar & Stirling, but he is perhaps best known for his time at Clyde.
Described by Kilwinning as “a combative midfielder, and a leader” Manager David Gormley will be expecting Nicoll to help shape his new-look side both on and off the park.

⚽️️ DYLAN MACKIN ⚽️
Irvine lad Dylan was a bit of a coup when he signed for Kilwinning in the summer, a towering frontman who has been plying his trade in the senior leagues for the last few seasons with distinction.
Began his career with Motherwell before moves to Livingston, Falkirk & Stirling, big things are expected of him in this new-look Kilwinning side.

Troon travelled to Buffs Park last July for the league opener, but it turned into a poor day at the office for the Seasiders as the home side ran out 3-0 winners. Goals from Carlo Monti, Jordan Stuart & Thomas Collins proving the difference.
The return match in November was a much closer affair, Ben Black & Josh Black goals looked like giving us the win at Portland Park before a late Thomas Collins equaliser.
