Troon goalkeeper Dale Burgess has today joined WOSFL Premier Division side Kilbirnie Ladeside on a permanent transfer.
The 32 year old goalkeeper began his career as a youth at Renfrew Victoria Boys Club, before making the move to Junior football with Dalry Thistle. He signed for his local side Renfrew in the summer of 2014 and spent five successful seasons at New Western Park.
Dale signed for Stranraer in June 2019 to provide competition for young goalkeeper Max Currie, and then he joined Beith in the summer of 2020.
Dale moved to Portland Park for an undisclosed fee exactly four years ago today, and he has proven to be an excellent and reliable last line of defence as the club recorded 11th, 12th, 4th and a record 3rd place finish in the WOSFL Premier Division, leading us to promotion at the end of last season. Dale was also a vital member of the side that lifted the WOSFL Cup on that amazing day in May!
Dale had already agreed earlier in the season with Manager Jimmy Kirkwood that he would seek a club closer to his Renfrewshire home in the summer, given a promotion at his work as well as his new young family. After 154 competitive matches, he departs the club as a Cup-winning legend.
Everyone at the club would like to wish Dale & his family all the very best for the future!
