It’s yet another vital “six pointer” and it’s a bonus Wednesday fixture as we travel east to Townhead Park for our 21st WOSFL Premier Division match of the season.

Wednesday 15th March 2023
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Townhead Park, Cumnock
Kick-off 8pm
Troon come into this weekβs game in confident mood, hot on the heels of back-to-back wins over Pollok, Arthurlie, Hurlford & Petershill which have moved the Seasiders up the table to 8th, and above this week’s hosts.
Jimmy Kirkwoodβs men have put a wretched run of results behind them with five wins out of the last six in the league, and with the supporters starting to look up the table the Manager is still cautious of getting ahead of ourselves and is targeting 4 wins out of our last 10 matches to secure our Premier Division status for next season.
Cumnock began the season in great form as the Brian McGinty revolution really gained momentum after a stop/start end to last season, but they have slipped since the turn of the year & seem to have settled in mid-table for now. That can change very quickly, as we know only too well.
Hereβs everything you need to know ahead of Wednesdayβs matchβ¦

Darrell has been a busy man in the treatment room of late, with plenty of knocks & niggles to treat after a run of tough matches, but we look to be getting back to what resembles a full squad again. Or, as close to it as we can get at this stage of the season.
Dale Moore & Raymond Montgomerie remain absent with ankle ligament issues, and both will be missing for a few weeks still as they rehabilitate. Ewan McLevy misses out with a knee knock suffered against Rob Roy, but he is hoped to return in the next week or two.

The run goes on, delighted with the performance & obviously the result on Saturday. I felt the first half in particular, we were absolutely dominant & probably should have been further ahead than 1-0 at the break, but we got a wee scare right on half-time & could have gone in level in the end. Maybe that gave us the wee kick that we needed, a very professional performance second 45 & that’s 4 wins in a row and 5 out of the last 6.
Different challenge again for us this week, Cumnock are always a very difficult team to play against & Townhead is a difficult place to come to. But we only need to look at last season, which was also a game under the lights, to see what we can do when we do everything right. A real tough challenge, but one that we should look forward to & relish.

β½οΈοΈ JAMIE WILSON β½οΈ
League winner, Scottish Cup winner, League Cup winner. There have been few better midfielders in the West in the last decade than Jamie, such was his impact with Beith.
Began his Junior career with Troon, and after brief forays with St. Cadocβs & Hurlford he now looks settled at Townhead Park. A strong influence

β½οΈοΈ JORDAN MOORE β½οΈ
The latest arrival at Townhead, Jordan hit the headlines earlier this season with a phenomenal start to the season with Bellshill which earned him a move to Pollok in October.
Began his career with Stenhousemuir then Motherwell, Cumnock hope he will spearhead their attack for years to come.

Troon had the better of the encounters last season, lifting maximum points.
The two teams played out a classic under the midweek lights in our first encounter of last season, 10-man Troon running out 4-3 victors in a close match at TownheadΒ thanks to goals from Ryan Stevenson, Raymond Montgomerie, Stephen Wilson & Sam Jamieson.
The return match in FebruaryΒ was another thrilling affair, goals from Tommy Maitland & Sam Jamieson sealing a 2-1 win at Portland Park.
