PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 1.30pm

Troon bade a fond farewell to what must ultimately be considered a successful first half of the season in 2021.

A 4-1 festive friendly win against Saltcoats Victoria gave us the opportunity to stretch the legs & integrate some more of our successful Development Team. And many of those young players will be needed for the remainder of the season, as the COVID pandemic shows no signs of disappearing any time soon & further isolations are inevitable.

Bonnyton have had a frustrating season thus far. Two wins out of 25 matches, including a memorable early season win against Pollok, have not been enough to stop them propping up the table. But in Manager Alan Robertson, they have a highly respected coach able to put a run of results together.

Bonnyton currently sit in 20th place in the Premier Division table, 22 points behind us sitting in 10th.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

With last weekend’s game at Hurlford being postponed, the extra week’s rest may just be the tonic for some of our recovering players.

Jack Sherrie has sat out the last couple of games with a knock, but he is looking fit to return to action this week after a strong week’s training while Chris Murchie returned against Saltcoats after surgery in November to compete with Marc Fisher for the goalkeepers jersey. Josh Black is still out as he receives treatment for a knee knock. We are missing a couple of first-team players who are isolating, and we wish them a swift recovery.

(We hope to have a big new signing in the door before Saturday’s match – watch this space…)

Of our long-term absentees, Todd Henderson is grafting very hard indeed as he recovers from surgery on his knee injury & he has returned to non-contact training. Hopefully, we will see him back in a Troon jersey very soon. Mark Morrison (ankle) and Ross McCrea (knee) remain out.

We won’t be fooled, this will be a tougher game than the league table would suggest. Their score line against Pollok on Saturday doesn’t reflect their improvement, but it hasn’t been missed by us.

We’ve been training well throughout the festive period, we’ve all pressed the reset button in the holidays & are raring to go for the second half of the season.

Myself & Jimmy have been working really hard to get players in to supplement what we have, and we’re hopefully going to have one or two in the door soon (and one of those in for this weekend) which we’re very excited about.

Looking forward to being back in front of our home fans for the New Year & hope they can cheer us on to 3 points, which will hopefully help us push on up the league

Dean Keenan (Assistant Manager)

⚽️️ EDDIE ABLOHR ⚽️

A real handful up front, Eddie leads the line in dangerous fashion for Alan Robertson’s side.

A player we’ve faced numerous times when he was Irvine Victoria, his pace & energy are always a threat.

⚽️️ CALLUM WALSH ⚽️

Former Darvel & Whitletts Victoria centre-back Callum was a shrewd recruit last summer, returning to the club he came through the youth ranks with.

Strong in the air & composed, Callum’s experience will be invaluable to this young Bonnyton side.

Troon were sitting second in the WOSFL Premier Division when the Covid restrictions shut down football last Christmas.

Bonnyton were sitting 12th in a reduced 14 team league, a campaign that began with Troon’s 3-0 win at the Synergy Arena in September.
