Three former Troon F.C. players took on the UK Three Peaks Challenge at the weekend to raise vital funds for a cause very close to their hearts – and they’ve only gone & smashed it!
Cammy McKinnell, Marty Fraser & Neil Sanderson led a group of friends who scaled the three highest peaks of Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) all within 24 hours, and they have already raised over £7000 (including Gift Aid) for the Stroke Association!
Amazing!
Why the Stroke Association?
THANKS FROM CAMMY
Delighted to say that we completed the 3 peaks, most importantly everyone down safely, and with times between 23 hrs 40 mins and 23 hrs 59 mins (talk about cutting it close!!!)
Cannot thank every one of the walkers for taking on the challenge with me. Ten years since my stroke and not only did their support all those years ago mean so much, but getting through quite literally the HARDEST challenge ever, together, means so much. I will never forget what you put yourself through, mostly because after a fall this morning my elbow might always remind me!!
To everyone who has supported us with positive comments, or incredibly generous donations to raise over £7000 (including gift aid!) I cannot thank you enough!!
Hopefully the money is used wisely by the Stroke Association – Scotland and the education or research helps avoid one of your loved ones suffering a stroke.
A final thank you to the absolute rock stars of this challenge. My wife Laura and great friend Kirsty; without your organisation, impressive rally driving, cooking, encouragement and impeccable first aid kit, we would not have achieved a dream I had to prove that there is life after stroke.
Over and out.
This old guy and the gang are having a beer, wine, a party, and then a well deserved rest!
