Our Development Team Coach Thomas O’Ware has this week accepted a magnificent opportunity to join the staff at the Rangers Youth Academy.

The 28 year old, who began his playing career in the Rangers Youth Academy, began his coaching career with the Greenock Morton youth sides and has been progressing his coach education with the SFA in the last few years, now holding a UEFA B Licence as well as a number of other coaching qualifications. He was appointed our Development Team Coach in August 2020 and since then he has now completed his UEFA A Licence course.

Under his tutelage, our Development Team have recently gone on a run of seven league wins in a row & now sit on top of the Conference F league table after their latest victory on Friday evening. But far more importantly, during his time in charge 12 Development Team players have made their first team debuts and a further 5 have been involved in first team squads, with the player pathway working exactly as intended with players being promoted through our Under 17s and our Under 19s to the Development Team and even the first team.

Proving once again that, at Troon, if you’re good enough you’re old enough & the opportunities are there.

An announcement will be made in due course as to his replacement as Development Team Head Coach while we discuss it with interested parties, but enquiries can be made on: info@troonfootballclub.co.uk

We have thoroughly enjoyed having Tam with us and can only wish him well on his coaching career as it moves on to the next stage. All the very best to him for the future!
