It’s time for the first midweek match of 2024, and we head to a familiar venue to face unfamiliar opponents in St. Cadoc’s for our 23rd WOSFL Premier Division match of the season.

⚽️ St. Cadoc’s versus Troon F.C.⚽️
Wednesday 27th March 2024
PDM Huws Gray WOSFL Premier Division
New Tinto Park, Govan
Kick-off 8pm
There are now only 8 games to go for the Seasiders, so form goes out the window – it’s results that matter now, and that has to be the sole focus in the upcoming matches. Points are king. Last week was massive for the Seasider’s; 3 points at Arthurlie and 3 points at Irvine Meadow have dramatically improved our position at the bottom of the table, and the supporters will be hoping that will give us a bounce going into the next few matches.
St. Cadoc’s have had a hugely impressive first season in the WOSFL Premier Division having been promoted alongside Gartcairn & Benburb last summer. Following the appointment of Martin Fellowes, and a massive overhaul of the promotion-winning squad, they have had a stellar season so far & have been competing in the top four or five for the majority of the campaign.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Wednesday night’s match…

It’s reached that time of year where most players are carrying some kind of niggle & it’s about managing that til the end of the season.
New signing Grant Brennan comes straight into the squad after signing from Irvine Meadow, while fellow new signing Dario Viviani made his debut as a second half substitute in Saturday’s win after joining from Ayr United on Friday night.
Logan Smith returns after missing Saturday’s match through suspension, after being shown a second yellow & a red card in the closing moments of last Saturday’s win at Arthurlie. Ben Black sat out the last few matches with a knock, but he is hoped to make an appearance on Wednesday although Nicky Docherty (knee) is still a long-term absentee.
Marc Fisher has joined Ardrossan Winton Rovers on loan until the end of the season, and Ben Strain has joined Lugar to get some game time alongside Jack Marks.

What a hugely important week that was for us, we told the players we needed 6 points no matter what and that’s exactly what they delivered for us. It’s all very well us passing comments on where we feel we should be in the table, but actions speak louder than words & the players have really backed that up when it was really needed. Hat’s off to them.
We place a lot of emphasis on how we play football, and how we approach matches, but the points were essential of late & I believe that’s two teams who won’t finish above us now this season. We need to find at least one more now, so the hard work is far from over. We need to keep chalking up the points, no matter how hard our run in might be.
Different types of matches coming up this week. St. Cadoc’s are a side we’ve never faced before, and have been going great guns, and Clydebank are going for the title. Different type of matches, but games we still need to give everything we’ve got & try to impose our quality on them. And the players certainly feel they owe Clydebank one, so here’s their opportunity!

⚽️️ JACK BREEN ⚽️

24 year old Jack is a new signing for St. Cadoc’s from Drumchapel, returning to the club he spent some of his formative years as a youth where he was capped by Scotland U15s.
A product of the Hibernian youth system, before spending a few years with Hamilton, he joined Fauldhouse then Drumchapel in 2022 where he has made a huge impression.
A well-deserved Man of the Match in the recent Strathclyde Demolition Cup Final.
⚽️️ NEIL McLAUGHLIN ⚽️

A powerful winger, who is most often found coming off the left flank, 25 year old Neil is really catching the eye this season thanks to his goal-scoring, with 13 league goals to his name so far in 2023-24.
One of many players who followed Martin Fellowes from East Kilbride in the summer, he began his career in the Thistle Weir Youth Academy before a spell with Motherwell, Stirling & Caledonian Braves.

St. Cadoc’s were edged out by rivals Gartcairn by just the solitary one point to finish second in the WOSFL First Division 2022-23 last term, which saw them make a first ever appearance in the Premier Division this season. Only three years after they first entered senior football, they have climbed to the top tier of the WOSFL with great ambitions for the future.
Troon finished 11th in the 16 team WOSFL Premier Division 2022-23 last season; a great start was marred by a mid-season drop, before a strong finish secured safety & actually ended up in a little disappointment that we didn’t finish higher.
