There’s another vital three points up for grabs this Saturday as we head up the M77 to many people’s favourite away ground, Newlandsfield for our 24th WOSFL Premier Division match of the season.

⚽️ Pollok versus Troon F.C.⚽️
Saturday 1st April 2023
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Newlandsfield, Glasgow
Kick-off 2pm
Troon come into this weekend’s game in confident mood, hot on the heels of a great run of form.
Jimmy Kirkwood’s men are one of the division’s form sides with six wins out of the last nine in the league, and with the supporters starting to look up the table the Manager is still cautious of getting ahead of ourselves and is targeting 3 wins out of our last 7 matches to secure our Premier Division status for next season.
Pollok have enjoyed some real highs this season, including a Scottish Cup run that ended away to Ayr United in November, but they are regrouping under new management after the appointment of Stewart Maxwell to replace Murdo MacKinnon. That upheaval may have seen some disappointing results here & there, but they have been consistently at the top end of the table for almost all of the season so far & currently occupy third position.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

Darrell has been a busy man in the treatment room of late, with plenty of knocks & niggles to treat after a run of tough matches, but we look to be getting back to what resembles a full squad again. Or, as close to it as we can get at this stage of the season.
Dale Moore is in contention for a return this weekend, but Raymond Montgomerie’s ankle injury appears to be worse than first suspected & he may need minor surgery which would likely end his season. Ewan McLevy is still out with a knee knock, but he is hoped to return in the next week or two.
Dean Fulton starts a two match suspension, after his controversial red card against Largs on Friday night, and Jack Sherrie also starts a two match suspension after his 10th yellow card of the season against Darvel.

Friday night football is tremendous, another great crowd cheering the boys on, but sadly we couldn’t get the result we were looking for against a Largs side who are really flying just now.
We got caught out by a slow start & Largs took advantage with an early goal, but I would still have backed us to get ourselves back into the game. The red card really left us with a mountain to climb though. Half-time came at a bad time for us, as we were pressing hard and Sam Jamieson deservedly equalised for us, and that gave Largs the reprieve they needed. As well as we played in the second half, it was an uphill task & we couldn’t quite get back on level terms.
We know Pollok are a tough team to play against, we had to be on top form to beat them at Portland in February, but if our form in the past few months has shown us anything it’s that we should have confidence in every game. I think we need 3 wins between now and the end of the season to be comfortable, let’s get behind the players & see where we can end up come the seasons end!

The two encounters last season were very similar, certainly in terms of results at least.
Pollok were the victors in the first match-up last season, running out 2-1 winners after a very tight match at Newlandsfield.
The return leg was the penultimate match of the 2021-22 season & was a bit flat as a result, Pollok chalking up another 2-1 win in a match with little at stake at Portland Park.
