Troon are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Ben Hughes for an undisclosed development fee from WOSFL Premier Division side Hurlford United.

The 22 year old began his career in the youth ranks of Kilmarnock as a fresh faced 10 year old, spending 8 seasons climbing the ranks as a hot prospect. In search of first team football, he moved on to East Kilbride as an 18 year old in the summer of 2022 and made a real impression, so much so he was on the move 12 months later when Stranraer came calling. With competition in the Stranraer midfield, Ben moved to Hurlford on loan where he enjoyed a strong run of form. He returned to Stranraer that summer before returning to Blair Park permanently in September 2024.

A strong, powerful midfielder with a wand of a left foot, Ben made an impact at Portland Park where he scored a screamer from long range against us in April, from which he was awarded the Goal of the Season from the Hurlford supporters in the summer.
