This coming Saturday marks the final game of a mammoth season with a home match against local rivals Irvine Meadow XI.

⚽️ Troon F.C. versus Irvine Meadow XI ⚽️
Saturday 7th May 2022
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 2pm
Jimmy Kirkwood’s men are approaching the last game of the season with confidence, after a successful season so far has seen them rest in 8th, 9th or 10th position for the majority of a cut-throat campaign. One final push in our last match is required to finish the season strongly and secure a top ten finish, which would represent a fantastic season from the club.
Irvine Meadow have been in very similar form to ourselves this season, sitting just one position above us in the table (courtesy of a marginally better goal difference) on the same points.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

Ewan McLevy starts a suspension & will miss the match, but other than that we have no suspensions or new injury worries to speak of and only a few minor niggling injuries to manage, as you’d expect at this stage of the season.
Of our long-term absentees, Todd Henderson is back in training at Portland Park, which was great to see after his latest knee operation. Ross McCrea (knee) remains out.

Both of the teams we played against last week were top, top opposition at this level, but we were extremely disappointed not to take something from both games. We are desperate to put that right this week and the players look hungry for this local derby and to finish this season on a high.
Spenny is a familiar face at Portland Park and he will have his players right up for this game, so I’m sure it’s going to be a great contest. We are both on the same points, so it’s important for us to get a win and give ourselves the opportunity to finish above them as well as a couple of others.
We have really appreciated the numbers we’ve had through the turnstiles every other week this season. I’m sure another big turnout, especially a vocal one, would help us to achieve the result we all want.
Thanks for your support, see you all on Saturday!
Marty Fraser (Coach)

⚽️️ MARK McLENNAN ⚽️
30 year old Mark is the Captain, leader and the beating heart of this Medda side. Everything good tends to go through him.
Formerly a full-back or a midfielder, the former Pollok & St. Mirren man has been one of the top performers in the league this season at the heart of the defence & he is sure to have a few admirers this summer.

⚽️️ CALLUM GRAHAM ⚽️
26 year old Callum has been a goal scoring sensation in the last few seasons after joining Ashfield from Motherwell Kings Amateurs. He scored 49 goals in his first season and a half with Ashfield after netting a phenomenal 199 goals in 5 seasons in the amateurs. His Pollok career began in similar fashion with 7 goals in 17 games.
He surprisingly departed Newlandsfield in March when he made a big money transfer to Meadow Park, where he is looking to rediscover his goalscoring touch.

Troon and Irvine Meadow didn’t face each other during the 2020-21 season, which was eventually declared null & void due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
In our first encounter of 2019-20, Medda ran out 3-1 winners in December 2019 at Meadow Park thanks to goals from Mark McLennan & a double from Eddie McTernan. The return match in April was postponed & eventually cancelled after the first national Covid lockdown was announced.
The hosts were the victors when we met earlier this season at Meadow Park, last minute goals from Jamie Whyte & Michael Wardrope in the last two minutes proving the difference between the sides in a closely contested match.
