Rob Roy Preview

⚽️ Troon F.C. versus Kirkintilloch Rob Roy ⚽️
Wednesday 28th July 2021
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Portland Park, Troon KA10 6QN
Kick-off 7.30pm

The Seasiders are back home again, marking the start of a three game run at Portland Park.

Jimmy Kirkwood’s men have had a difficult start to the new campaign, with a 3-0 defeat at Kilwinning Rangers & a 0-0 draw at home to Benburb on the card so far before Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Auchinleck Talbot.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

New signing Andy Heaney comes straight into the squad after joining on loan from Ayr United this week, and we hope to have another new signing available for the squad as well, pending the completion of paperwork.

Ewan McLevy returned to the starting line-up on Saturday with no ill-effects, after missing out on Wednesday’s draw with Benburb, so we have no new injury concerns for this week’s game.

Of our long-term absentees, Mark Morrison has suffered a set-back in his return bid as he has broken his toe at work. He was hoping to be back before the end of the month, but that is now delayed a few weeks. Ross McCrea is working on his rehabilitation after a setback following surgery on his cruciate knee injury, all things going well we hope to welcome him back into the side at the end of the year. Todd Henderson is now recovering at home after surgery on his knee injury & he is targeting a November return to action.

We were pleased with many aspects of the performance at the weekend. We can’t afford to dwell on the negatives, although we corrected few things at training. We just need to show the same attitude and work rate against RobRoy.

Stewart Maxwell has created a really good, vibrant young team which is full of energy and quality. We will be in for a tough night. Both sides will be looking for their first win, but hopefully our supporters can be the difference and help us get over the line.

On the transfer front, it’s looking positive. Two new additions in the squad for tonight, and many thanks go to Ayr United for their co-operation with Andy Heaney, who will bring energy and quality in to the midfield.

Credit to Jim & Jimmy for getting a huge marquee signing over the line, one which will definitely catch the imagination of the Troon faithful.

⚽️️ SCOTT WALKER ⚽️

Scott has been a fixture on the right side of the Rabs defence for the last six seasons, and he is now Club Captain.

A threat down the flank with his energy, and a powerhouse of the team with his leadership qualities, Scott has been a stand-out in past encounters.

⚽️ CRAIG TRUESDALE ⚽️

Craig is the midfield heartbeat of this Rabs side.

Began his career at Airdrieonians, before a short spell with Stirling Albion, the 21 year old is in his second season with the Rabs and has made quite an impression so far.
