Kick-off 7pm

Troon had a successful weekend after a convincing win at Bonnyton Thistle on Saturday, and they will be looking to turn a positive away form into home points.

Glenafton shrugged off three successive defeats to record a 3-1 home win over Kirkintilloch Rob Roy on Saturday, and will be hoping to carry some of that momentum into this week’s game.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Wednesday’s match…

Raymond Montgomerie returns from suspension after missing the game on Saturday, following his late sending off against Blantyre last Wednesday., and Sam McCloskey returns after attending a wedding on Saturday.

Ewan McLevy returned from injury on Saturday with no ill effects, but Mark Morrison is back on the physio bench again after just two games back. Jaime Gallagher is a doubt with a knock suffered at training.

Of our long-term absentees, Ross McCrea is working on his rehabilitation after a setback following surgery on his cruciate knee injury, all things going well we hope to welcome him back into the side at the end of the year. Todd Henderson is off his crutches next week as he recovers from surgery on his knee injury & he is targeting a November return to action.

Delighted to get the win on Saturday. We sensed a small shift in attitude & application from the players from the very first minute, possibly even into the warm up.

We’ve had a few false dawns so far in this campaign, but we all hope to reward the home support with another good performance against a Glenafton team with a real false league position. They have played 7 out the top 8 teams in the league so far, but we are well aware of their threat and look forward to the challenge of keeping the points at Portland Park.

Squad: Darren Curtis | Glenafton Athletic

⚽️️ DARREN CURTIS ⚽️

A one-time Troon Youth Academy player, Darren has really blossomed the way we expected him to after moving to Lugar Boswell a couple of seasons ago.

Skillful & quick, Darren could become the heartbeat of the new-look Glenafton.

Squad: Jordan Ryan | Glenafton Athletic

⚽️ JORDAN RYAN ⚽️

Former Darvel forward Jordan was another summer signing by Mick McCann, joining from Annbank after three seasons at New Pebble Park.

Quick & with a keen eye for goal, Jordan will be one to watch in the Premier Division this season.

Troon & Glenafton didn’t face each other competitively last season, after Glenafton decided not to take part in the season that was eventually declared null & void due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

Our last encounter was in a pre-season friendly on 10th October 2020 when Troon ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.
