It’s a return to the Cup weekend at Portland Park, and this time we welcome Forth Wanderers to the Ayrshire seaside for our South Region Challenge Cup 2nd round clash.

⚽️ Troon F.C. versus Forth Wanderers ⚽️
Saturday 15th October 2022
South Region Challenge Cup (Round 2)
Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 2pm
It’s take two for both teams this weekend, after the initial fixture was rescheduled after football was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Jimmy Kirkwood’s men have made a quietly confident start to the season, garnering 4 wins from 7 matches in what was a tough looking start. Last Saturday’s home win against Cambuslang leaves us in a strong 6th position in the WOSFL Premier Division.
Forth have made a solid start to life in the Second Division; 3 wins & 2 draws from 8 league games this season representing progress from Thomas Devine’s men.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

New signing Alexander Easdale goes straight into the squad, following his move from Greenock Morton.
Dale Moore returns to the matchday squad, as he returns after serving a one-match ban last week against Cambuslang following his dismissal against Darvel.
We have no new injury concerns to contend with, other than the usual knocks & niggles, after Logan Smith & Tommy Maitland both returned to the starting line-up in recent weeks and suffered no ill-effects.

Delighted to bounce back with a positive result at the weekend. A big three points against a Cambuslang Rangers side who deserve to be on more points than they are.
Again, we have Cup games coming thick and fast. We have done our homework on Forth Wanderers and know exactly the challenges we face; we will have to be at our best to get through the tie. Hopefully in an entertaining manner.
Our performances at home have been solid, if not spectacular, but it’s about time we started entertaining the great crowds we have been getting.
Hopefully starting with a win this weekend!
Dean Keenan (Assistant Manager)

⚽️️ KRIS JARVIE ⚽️
The veteran striker is a recent signing for Forth, and is a “weel kent face” in Scottish football in the West.
The man of many clubs, including Bellshill Athletic, Newmains United & Lesmahagow, might be 41 now but he is still more than capable of finding the back of the net from any situation.

⚽️️ NATHAN CASSIDY ⚽️
“Casper” is a popular figure at Kingshill Park, and is enjoying his fifth season at the Wanderers.
A full-back who is comfortable on either side, he is a Mr Reliable at the back as well as going forward.

Forth Wanderers enjoyed a good season in the Conference set-up last term, finishing 7th in Conference A with 15 wins out of 30 matches as they secured their place in the Second Division for this season.
Troon started poorly in 2021-22 against some strong teams, but a mid-season surge saw them sitting comfortably in the 8th & 9th for the vast majority of the season before securing their place in the Premier Division for the 2022-23 season.
