Festive Friendly Match
Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 1.30pm
It’s been a fantastic year at the seaside, and we start to bring it to a close with our annual Festive Friendly & Fan’s Day at Portland Park.
Jimmy Kirkwood’s men had an excellent second half to last season, which confirmed their status in the 6th tier as a Premier Division club. This season, a great start to the league campaign and some memorable Cup matches have sealed 2022 as a successful year on the park.
Off the park, some of the biggest advancements we have seen in a very long time have us on the path to being an SFA licensed club. Significant investment has seen the erection of brand new floodlights, and work begins on a new training park in February which will help to transform Portland Park as it approaches it’s 100th birthday in 2023.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Tuesday’s match…

Given this is our first opportunity for a proper game since 3rd December at Hurlford, most first-team players are expected to get at least 45 minutes of action ahead of a run of vital matches, starting on Friday against Petershill.
The management team are also likely to use this opportunity to blood a few of our exciting Academy youngsters, with some of our Development Team players hoping to grab their opportunity with both hands.

It’s been a fantastic year, the first full & uninterrupted year since the nightmare of Covid, and the players should rightly feel proud of what they’ve achieved, quite often in challenging circumstances.
One of the most pleasing aspects for me though, is the crowds we have played in front of this season & the support we’ve received both home & away. We keep hearing from other clubs how their attendances are down post-Covid, but ours are up & we are absolutely delighted with the support we’ve received. We would like to thank each & every one of you for that.
Friday will be a proud day for us, with the first game under our new floodlights against Petershill. The Chairman deserves a hell of a lot of credit for the work he’s put in to bring us to this point; the place looks amazing with the floodlights on & for that alone, I hope he doesn’t have to put his hand in his pocket for a pint all night. With both this, and the training park which is going to break ground in early February, this is going to be a game-changer for our club.
Exciting times ahead!
Jimmy Kirkwood (Manager)
