Head Coach Tony Murphy led his troops to the title last season, as we were crowned WOSFDL Conference E Champions 2024-25 in May after a comprehensive 11-1 victory over Ardrossan Winton Rovers at Portland Park. A fantastic achievement in a very competitive title-race against Darvel & Bonnyton Thistle!

The young team is looking really strong ahead of the new season as they look to defend the Conference E title they won at the end of 2024-25. They have welcomed some new faces, whilst wishing some more familiar faces all the best in the summer.

MOVING ON

Coaches Neil Sanderson & Stuart Boyd, who had masterminded the all-conquering 2007s side before their players transitioned to the Development Team, both moved on for different personal reasons & we thank them for all of their hard work & commitment over the years.

Talented young midfielder Rocco Devenny has signed for Ayr United and will spend this season developing in their Under 19 side, where he will be joined by midfielder Jack Simpson who starred at the end of last season. Everyone at the club is delighted for both lads & will watch their progress with interest!

League winning Captain Duncan Jamieson moves into senior football when he joined Maybole in the July & we’ll monitor his progress with interest, as does Aidan Boon with Irvine Victoria. Rylay Bilham has moved into the amateur ranks, joining local side Troon Town. Joe McCarroll has had a life-changing move to the States on a scholarship, heading to Concordia University in Nebraska for the next four years while Matthew Hughes is off to Edinburgh University.

It has been a fantastic season for everyone at the club, and all of these players have played a huge part. Would love to welcome you all down to Portland any time!

NEW ARRIVALS

Assistant Head Coach Steven “Minty” McNally, who joined middle of last season, continues to assist Tony Murphy and they are joined by former Ayr United youth coach Ross Armour.

Clayton Hood, who has made quite an impression with the first team in pre-season, will lead the side as Captain and he will be joined in the midfield by new signing Shaun Donnelly from Darvel. Our former 2007s team Captain Fraser Boyd returns after a season at Whitletts, whilst two former Ayr United youths have arrived in the shape of Killian O’Hare (midfield) and Adam Malcolmson (full-back).

We’ve seen a number of the Development team playing in the first team this summer already, with Clayton Hood, Kieran Logan, Rocco Devenny, Ryan Hamilton, Ethan McMurdo, Bradley Bain and Liam Breuls all featuring at some point in our pre-season.
