PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Guy’s Meadow, Cumbernauld
Kick-off 2pm

Jimmy Kirkwood’s men have got safety firmly in their sights & are looking to cement their place in next season’s WOSFL Premier Division. The three points against Kilbirnie Ladeside last time out sees us very nearly there, but one final push is required to finish the season strongly.

Cumbernauld have had an up and down season, with some excellent wins & some difficult games in a season that has seen them scrap for survival. Safety is still within reach, and they have games in hand over many of their rivals, so will be looking at every remaining game as a must win.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

Jack Sherrie has completed his two match suspension & returns to the squad this weekend. Tommy Maitland also returns after missing the Kilbirnie game two weeks ago for his wedding.

No other suspensions now, and only a few minor niggling injuries to manage, as you’d expect at this stage of the season.

Of our long-term absentees, Todd Henderson’s latest knee operation went really well & he is already back in light training, which is great news. Ross McCrea (knee) remains out.

Preparations have been good. The friendly against Maybole last weekend was worthwhile to get minutes in the legs of some of the lads that haven’t featured much recently.

Cumbernauld already bloodied our nose earlier in the season at our patch, so we know how tough a game it’s going to be. But we will be ready.

We are determined to finish the season strong and hopefully take the points back down the road to Troon.

Dean Keenan (Assistant Manager)

⚽️ LIAM GORMLEY ⚽️

29 year old Liam was a shrewd signing by Tony Fraser back in August, and he has rewarded his Manager’s faith with some sterling performances & vital goals.

Liam began his career with Motherwell before joining the Celtic Youth Academy, he has also had spells with East Fife, Queens Park & East Kilbride before moving into the Juniors with Kilbirnie & Cambuslang. Found a home at Rutherglen Glencairn, where he spent 4 seasons scoring 37 goals in 83 appearances.

⚽️ DANNY BOYLE ⚽️

An excellent summer signing by Tony Fraser, Danny is a solid defender of great repute after spells with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, Pollok, Auchinleck Talbot and most recently Gartcairn.

Now Club Captain, Danny is strong in the tackle & a real threat in both boxes.

Troon and Cumbernauld didn’t face each other during the 2020-21 season, which was eventually declared null & void due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

In season 2019-20, Troon were in the SJFA West Region Premier while Cumbernauld were ultimately promoted out of the Super First behind winners Blantyre Victoria and Darvel.

Our last encounter was earlier this season, when Cumbernauld ran out 1-0 winners in a midweek league encounter in August at Portland Park.
