Bryan Wharton joins Gartcairn

Defender Bryan Wharton has joined WOSFL Premier Division side Gartcairn on a permanent transfer.

34 year old Bryan began his career at Thorniewood United before a move to Shotts Bon Accord where he lifted the Scottish Junior Cup in 2012 with Tony McInally’s side. He moved into the senior ranks with Queens Park in 2014 before the first of three separate spells at Pollok in 2017. Spells at Albion Rovers, Bo’ness United and Irvine Meadow followed before he joined Colin Reilly’s Arthurlie side last summer and he was a key man at the back in their charge towards the Scottish Junior Cup Final last season, where they were so narrowly beaten at the death by Darvel.

Bryan moved to Portland Park in late July, but such has been the form of Logan Smith and latterly Stephen Bronsky he has not enjoyed as much football as he would have liked, with just 11 appearances this term, but he has been a model pro throughout & he moves on with everyone’s best wishes at the club.

Bryan joins Mick Dunlop’s side who are desperate to overturn a mammoth 15 point deduction handed out earlier in the season for an admin error, without which they would be sitting in the top 6. He will go straight into their squad to make his debut tomorrow against St. Cadoc’s.

All the very best, Bryan!
