Troon are delighted to announce the signing of right sided centre-back Bryan Wharton on a permanent transfer from Arthurlie for an undisclosed fee.

34 year old Bryan began his career at Thorniewood United before a move to Shotts Bon Accord where he lifted the Scottish Junior Cup in 2012 with Tony McInally’s side. He moved into the senior ranks with Queens Park in 2014 before the first of three separate spells at Pollok in 2017. Spells at Albion Rovers, Bo’ness United and Irvine Meadow followed before he joined Colin Reilly’s Arthurlie side last summer and he was a key man at the back in their charge towards the Scottish Junior Cup Final last season, where they were so narrowly beaten at the death by Darvel.

Manager Jimmy Kirkwood was delighted to land the experienced stopper.

He’s a brilliant signing for us, exactly what we need right now. Normally it’s a left sided player you’re seeking to get balance, but we have some of the best left sided defenders in the league in our team, so Bryan will bring that natural balance to our defence. He’s a calm head who will bring a fair bit of experience to what is still a young side, so we’re delighted to bring him in.

Welcome to Portland Park, Bryan!
