Clydebank Preview

⚽️ Troon F.C. versus Clydebank ⚽️
Saturday 31st July 2021
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Portland Park, Troon KA10 6QN
Kick-off 2pm

The Seasiders are back home again, for the second of a three game run at Portland Park.

Jimmy Kirkwood’s men picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday, entertaining the home fans by winning 4-2 against Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, following an encouraging performance in a 2-1 defeat at Auchinleck Talbot & a 0-0 draw at home to Benburb.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

New signing Stevie Wilson is in contention for a starting shirt after making his second debut for the club in Wednesday’s win over Rob Roy.

Fellow now signing Andy Heaney comes straight into the squad after joining on loan from Ayr United this week, and we hope to have another new signing available soon for the squad as well, pending the completion of paperwork.

Mark Morrison returns to full training on Monday after months out of action following ankle surgery.

Of our long-term absentees, Ross McCrea is working on his rehabilitation after a setback following surgery on his cruciate knee injury, all things going well we hope to welcome him back into the side at the end of the year. Todd Henderson is now recovering at home after surgery on his knee injury & he is targeting a November return to action.

Delighted with the response we got on Wednesday after a shaky start. Good to get the first win, and get that monkey off our back early.

Supporters played a huge role, hope they can remain patient and stay with the team.

The squad has had a massive overhaul since last season and Jimmy was spot on when saying the season probably started two weeks too early for us.

Delighted to bring some real quality into the squad this week. Not done in the transfer market yet, still looking to add one, maybe two new faces to the quality we already have.

Clydebank will be a tough game, Moff has done an excellent job, carrying on from Kieran before him.

Nicky Little is the outstanding player in the league for me, it’s key on Saturday we need to marshall him well.

The Bankies are really fit, hungry and very good quality – it will be a huge test, but one we relish.

⚽️️ NICKY LITTLE ⚽️

One of the standout players in the last few seasons of the Juniors, Nicky kept that form up in last season’s ultimately null and voided campaign.

Primarily a forward, but equally at home in midfield, Nicky is a goal threat from anywhere on the pitch.

⚽️ HAMISH McKINLAY ⚽️

A very familiar face to Troon, Hamish joined the Bankies in the summer from Auchinleck Talbot to share the goal burden with Nicky Little.

Strong, quick & with a real eye for goal, Hamish could be one to watch this season with the right service.

Troon and Clydebank didn’t face each other during the 2020-21 season, which was eventually declared null & void due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

In our first encounter of 2019-20, Troon ran out 2-0 winners on 17th August 2019 in an impressive victory at Portland Park.

The return match in December was another entertaining affair that this time ended 2-1 to Troon, Troon’s goals coming from Scott Chatham & Ryan Stevenson.
