Whiteleys Retreat

At next week’s match against Dunbar at Portland Park, we will have volunteers from Whiteleys Retreat taking a collection at the gate upon entry, looking for donations to help their fundraising for a great cause.

WHO ARE THEY?

Whiteleys Retreat is a local children’s charity based just outside Alloway, near Ayr.  They provide free therapeutic respite breaks and extended support for children, young people and their families with cancer or a life altering illness across Scotland.

The retreat offers families the opportunity for relaxation, relief, reflection, recreation and building resilience. Most importantly, spending time together as a family.

ARE THEY A NEW CHARITY?

In June 2016, the closure of CLIC Malcolm Sargent House in Prestwick saw a number of volunteers set out to ensure there would continue to be a much needed respite facility for children and young people with cancer and life-altering illness in Ayrshire.

Whiteleys, once a working farm, is now owned & run by the charity. It has been converted into a safe, clean and comfortable space of respite for families.

Their assisted catering cottages are surrounded by beautiful gardens, countryside and local wildlife in addition to a garden of wellbeing, sensory playpark, animals and an area for reflection.
