Todd Henderson joins Girvan on Loan

Todd Henderson has joined WOSFL Third Division side Girvan on loan to get some first team football.

Todd initially joined Troon’s Development side in 2018, immediately standing out as one to watch despite having only just turned 16 at the time. He quickly found himself part of Jimmy Kirkwood’s first team plans, making several first team appearances in 2019-20 from right-back, before being a standout regular in the team during the “null and void” Covid season of 2020-21.

Todd unfortunately returned to pre-season training in the summer of 2021 with a knee injury, which eventually turned out to be a torn meniscus that required reconstructive surgery. Todd went through the medical procedures & has worked hard in the long road to get back to the pitch, even with a few hiccups & set-backs, but he returned to the pitch towards the end of 2022-23 and played a handful of games in his preferred midfield position with the Development Team to get up to full fitness, ready for 2023-24.

21 year old Todd joins Chris Flanagan’s side who are pushing for promotion this season, and he marked his first start with a goal in the 4-1 win over Port Glasgow on Saturday.

All the best with the loan Todd, look forward to seeing you back at Portland Park!
