Stephen Wilson has today joined Maybole for an undisclosed fee.

The 32 year old midfielder, who began his career with Hurlford Boys Club, spent five seasons at Portland Park earlier in his career after signing from Bonnyton Thistle. He joined an ADL side at the start of Jimmy Kirkwood’s reign at Troon, and he was a key player as we rose from the regional leagues with promotion to the Super Leagues, then won the Ayrshire Cup & Super First with a record points total in 2013/14.

After a stellar first season in the Premier Division, he attracted the attention of Champions Auchinleck Talbot & spent five season at Beechwood Park, where he won the Premier Division three times, Scottish Junior Cup twice, Evening Times Cup, West of Scotland Cup & Ayrshire Cup.

He returned to Portland Park in the summer of 2021, and made a further 55 appearances scoring 5 goals.

He joins former team-mates Tommy Maitland, Mick McCann, Ryan Nisbet & Jake Graham at Maybole who, under Carlo Walker, are back in the second tier of the west in a very competitive WOSFL First Division, where they have made a strong start to the season. He made his debut in the 1-0 win over Neilston at Ladywell on Saturday.

Thanks for all your efforts at Portland Park Stephen, and all the best!
