Player of the Year 2021-22

Troon F.C. held our Player of the Year 2021-22 awards night at the club on Saturday night, for both their first team & Development Team.

This was our first POTY event since 2019, thanks to the Covid pandemic, and we were delighted to welcome a full clubhouse (and beer garden!) for the evening. Fantastic to get everyone back together for a function such as this, after so long without.

We have had an ultimately successful season this time out, with the main season’s objective reached – safety in the Premier Division. No mean feat, considering the wildly cut-throat nature of the league this season with a whopping 7 teams being relegated. Having navigated that safely, it was a season to celebrate as we look forward to next season!

The Development Team have been very effective this season as well, with some impressive results, but most importantly the progression of young players into the first team. We have played 20 YOUTH ACADEMY PLAYERS in the first season in 2021-22, which we are absolutely delighted about. Some of those players are already signed up to join the first team squad for 2022-23, and many of the rest are signed for the Development Team again. With some new additions coming in, we will be very well poised to go & kick on next season.

All round, a season to be proud of!

Captain Aaron Boyd has led the team with distinction throughout the season, especially during our management change mid-season & he has now progressed to the first team, ending the season superbly. Aaron was on holiday for the awards night, but he will be presented with his trophy when he gets back.

Congratulations, Aaron!
