We are delighted to announce that top scorer Mark Shankland has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club.

The 28 year old has been a star performer for the Seasiders this season, with 9 goals in 15 league appearances so far, and he has become a key player since joining from Auchinleck Talbot in the summer.

Manager Jimmy Kirkwood was delighted Shankland has committed himself to Portland Park.

We worked hard to get Shankers in last summer, and he’s repaid that with some great performances & is third top scorer in the league just now. He had interest from elsewhere for next season, but we’re very pleased that he sees Troon as the best place for him at this stage of his career.

We’ve done a fair bit of work this season to improve the profile of our squad. The season didn’t start how we expected it to, so we went back to the drawing board a little. We feel we’ve stabilised, and the next stage is to build for next season. Shankers is a crucial part of that, and there’s more good news to come in the next week or two.

We are absolutely delighted he is continuing his stay at Portland Park.
