Jimmy Kirkwood’s men saw their 100% start to 2022 come to an end with a frustrating home defeat to Auchinleck Talbot.

Every home voice were expecting more out of last Saturday’s late defeat to Auchinleck Talbot, but that is absolutely a measure of where we are just now & what we are now expecting of ourselves. Following a long run of wins, we will be looking to start another one ahead of our trip to Sauchie in the South Challenge Cup next week, which will test our team to the full.

Largs currently sit in 14th place in the Premier Division table, on the wrong side of the relegation zone line, 10 points behind us sitting in 7th.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

Our squad is back to it’s full compliment, after being down to bare-bones for recent matches with some key players missing.

Dean Fulton returns from a two-match suspension, and Raymond Montgomerie returns after missing last weekend’s match with holiday.

Of our long-term absentees, Todd Henderson has unfortunately suffered a setback in training & will need to go under the knife again to resolve his knee issues. It is hoped not to be as serious as his last injury, but it is likely his season is over now. Ross McCrea (knee) remains out.

Pleased with loads of aspects of our game on Saturday, just frustrated and disappointed with some decisions going against us.

We are still on a good run and will head to Largs full of confidence. We have managed to beat them twice already, so they will be fired up. But so will we and hopefully get the points back down the coast.

⚽️️ WILLIAM SEWELL ⚽️

A product of the youth system at Largs, William leads the line withΒ distinction at Barrfields and is the club’s dangerman for sure.

Strong, direct & with a great eye for goal, he’s currently the top scorer in the WOSFL Premier Division this season.

⚽️️ STUART FAULDS ⚽️

A hugely underrated member of the Largs side, Stuart is an excellent midfielder & offers great protection to the defence.

Began his career in the Ayr United Academy, Faulds first moved to Barrfields in 2018 on loan & has been a fixture in the side ever since.

Troon were sitting second in the WOSFL Premier Division when the Covid restrictions shut down football last Christmas. Largs were sitting in sixth position, with three wins under their belt.

The two clubs did not play each other, as their games in January and then February were postponed before the league was eventually declared null and void following the latest Covid lockdown.
