It’s the home run, and it’s the second of three home matches in a week to bring season 2022-23 to a close. This Wednesday, we welcome local rivals Kilwinning Rangers to Portland Park for the 29th and penultimate WOSFL Premier Division match of the season.

⚽️ Troon F.C. versus Kilwinning Rangers ⚽️
Wednesday 10th May 2023
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 7.30pm
Troon come into Wednesday’s game a little frustrated after Saturday’s home defeat against Cumnock. Whilst the score line maybe flatters the Scottish Junior Cup finalists, they were worthy winners & Troon will be looking for an immediate return to the free-flowing, attacking football they have shown so often this season.
Jimmy Kirkwood’s men have had an excellent season over the piece, despite some up & down moments in the middle, and they are looking to secure a strong finish with the Manager targeting 2 wins out of our last 2 matches.
Kilwinning have had the season from hell in the league, but have given themselves a great chance of survival with two wins & a draw in their last 5 matches under new Manager Chris Aitken. Saturday’s impressive win over Largs Thistle will have given them every confidence coming into a match they must win in order to survive in the Premier Division.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Wednesday’s match…

Jaime Gallagher is a very welcome returnee, fresh from a two match suspension, while we are delighted to see Ben Black back in training after being stretchered off against Auchinleck Talbot and getting stitches in a knee wound.
Raymond Montgomerie remains out with an ankle injury which has ended his season, and he has been joined on the side lines by Stephen Wilson who tore ankle ligaments at Cambuslang Rangers.

Saturday was disappointing, because we have been excellent in recent weeks and we just didn’t come anywhere near the high standards that we have set for ourselves. Cumnock were clever, and had a game plan that we fell right into, but we expect more than that from ourselves.
Wednesday will be a tough match, Kilwinning are a side that we know all about in terms of strengths and weaknesses. They have some very good players & I’ve got a lot of time for their new Manager, so we need to be on our toes & right at it straight from the off.

⚽️️ JOSH LOUDON ⚽️
A ray of hope in an otherwise difficult season at Buffs Park, Josh has progressed through the youth system at Kilwinning & has made the step up with ease this season from their Development Team.
A quick & talented full-back, he’s one to watch in the next few seasons for sure.

⚽️️ DYLAN MACKIN ⚽️
Irvine lad Dylan was a bit of a coup when he signed for Kilwinning in the summer, a towering frontman who has been plying his trade in the senior leagues for the last few seasons with distinction.
Began his career with Motherwell before moves to Livingston, Falkirk & Stirling, big things were expected of him in the new-look Kilwinning side this season.

Troon travelled to Buffs Park last July for the league opener, but it turned into a poor day at the office for the Seasiders as the home side ran out 3-0 winners. Goals from Carlo Monti, Jordan Stuart & Thomas Collins proving the difference.
The return match in November was a much closer affair, Ben Black & Josh Black goals looked like giving us the win at Portland Park before a late Thomas Collins equaliser.
