Saturday marks the first of the Final Five league matches for our season, and a return to the home comforts of Portland Park for the first competitive match in 7 weeks, as Troon welcome Kilbirnie Ladeside for a 2pm kick-off.

⚽️ Troon F.C. versus Kilbirnie Ladeside ⚽️
Saturday 9th April 2022
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
Portland Park, Troon
Kick-off 2pm
Jimmy Kirkwood’s men have got safety firmly in their sights & are looking to cement their place in next season’s WOSFL Premier Division.
Kilbirnie’s season has certainly been one of two halves; the first one full of struggle under Martin Ferry before the introduction of new management team Thomas Molloy & Shaun Dillon when the team were rock-bottom of the Premier Division. They have been upwardly mobile since then, but are now in danger of running out of games just as safety is within their grasp.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…

Jack Sherrie completes his two match suspension this weekend, after his controversial red card against Beith. No other suspensions, and only a few minor niggling injuries to manage, as you’d expect at this stage of the season.
Of our long-term absentees, Todd Henderson’s latest knee operation went really well & he is already back in light training, which is great news. Ross McCrea (knee) remains out.

Great to be back in front of the fans for the last few remaining games, can’t believe it’s been two months since our last game at Portland. These things make a real difference. We’re hoping the home support can push us on to a top ten finish, it’s not just about safety for me. Top ten is a true representation of a really solid season for us, I believe.
Kilbirnie are a real danger to us this week, they’ve been in phenomenal form recently. We’ve been pleased with our form since Christmas, but they’ve been on a hell of a run. They’ll see this as a winnable game, we won’t be taking them lightly at all.
The Development Team finished their season last Friday, and what a great full debut season it has been for them as a collective. We have produced some really exciting talent from that team already & it’s been a sound investment from the club over the last couple of years.
Jimmy Kirkwood (Manager)

⚽️️ ALAN FRIZZELL ⚽️
A popular player amongst the supporters & a popular member of the dressing room from his time at Portland Park, “Frizz” has proved a very shrewd signing for the Blasties
Previously top scorer in two consecutive seasons under Molloy & Dillon at Greenock, he is the focal point of their attack & will no doubt have a point to prove at his old stomping ground this weekend.

⚽️️ LIAM McGUINNESS ⚽️
Liam may well be in the twilight of his career, but he is still one of the very best midfielders in the West.
A touch of class over nearly two decades in the engine room for Kilbirnie, Irvine Meadow and Kilwinning, “Ginto” has coaching experience as well & can help guide the Blasties into a new era.

Troon and Kilbirnie didn’t face each other during the 2020-21 season, which was eventually declared null & void due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
Troon were the victors when we met earlier this season at Valefield, a late goal from substitute Josh Black proving the difference between the sides.
