Portland Park, Troon KA10 6QN
Kick-off 2pm
Portland Park enters a bright new dawn as part of Scottish senior football, when we host our first competitive match in the Scottish football pyramid at home to Cumbernauld United in our second PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division match of the season.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…
🎥 INTERVIEW WITH THE GAFFERS 🎤
This week, it’s goalkeeping coach Marty Fraser discussing last weekend’s match against Bonnyton & this week’s encounter with Cumbernauld United.
📋 TEAM NEWS 📋
Fortunately, we have no major injury concerns & are looking in great shape coming into the match. James McGowan is expected to shrug off a knock from last weekend & Jordan Morton will return to the match day squad. Mark Morrison will lead the team out for the first time at Portland Park since being named club Captain for this season.
Ross McCrea remains out while he awaits surgery on his cruciate knee injury.
🔎 OPPOSITION KEY MEN 🔎
⚽️ DARREN HILL ⚽️
️A lot was expected of Darren when he burst onto the scene in the Premier League with Falkirk, but given the incredibly stern competition for the keeper jersey from Bobby Olejnik and eventually on-loan Tim Krul and Kasper Schmeichel, he moved on in search of first team football at East Stirlingshire and then Arbroath, where he made 163 appearances in five seasons.
Darren may be 38 now, but he is still one of the best keepers in the league & a huge asset for Cumbernauld.
⚽️ KEVIN NICOLL ⚽️
Cumbernauld pulled off a real coup in the summer when they recruited Stirling Albion Captain Kevin Nicoll to marshal their inaugural season in the WOSFL Premier Division.
With over 300 senior games under his belt with Clyde, Dumbarton, Arbroath & Stranraer, Nicoll will be a key man for the ‘Nauld this year.

ℹ️ HOW DID THEY GET ON LAST SEASON? ℹ️
Cumbernauld United were promoted, along with joint-winners Blantyre Victoria & Darvel, from the SJFA West Championship in the summer after a stellar season where Andy Frame’s men finally found themselves regularly in the top three after several seasons as the division’s nearly men.
After a poor start to the season, Troon had risen above the relegation zone and were sitting in 13th position when the league was brought to a premature halt.

🎟💰 HOW MUCH IS IT TO GET IN? 🎟💰
Unfortunately, Scottish Government Covid restrictions are still in place which prevent the attendance of supporters at football.
We, as I’m sure you do, hope to see a return to supporters inside grounds such as ours very shortly.
🤝💴 HOW CAN I HELP MY CLUB IN THESE DIFFICULT TIMES? 🤝💳
We have been knocked out at the generosity of our supporters across the summer, donating their time, money and materials towards the maintenance & improvements we were doing around the ground. But the general costs of running a football club are a challenge for all clubs in these strange times.
If YOU want to donate anything to help your club out, you can do it safe online via the “Donate a Ticket” website. You can donate the price of a ticket as many times as you like, or donate a one-off amount of however much suits you – and 100% of the monies donated will go directly to the club.
You can help your club – and many thanks for those who have donated so far!
🎥🎞 MATCH HIGHLIGHTS 🎞🎥
The club’s new official Media Partner, Memories by Movie, will be filming the match & will be posting a highlights package on the club’s YouTube channel.
