Jimmy Kirkwood’s men have turned a promising pre-season into a promising start to the season after last Saturday’s fantastic performance & win at Kilwinning Rangers.
Clydebank have won one, lost one in their league games so far, starting their campaign with a win at Arthurlie & then a defeat at home to Irvine Meadow last weekend. Which Clydebank will turn up this Saturday?
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match…
Tommy Maitland is an injury doubt with a knock he suffered in training, but other than that the squad is in rude health & competition for places is strong.
We no longer have a “long-term absentees” list as Todd Henderson made his comeback from injury last midweek with his first 45 minutes in 18 months for the Development Team, which is great to see after his knee issues. He can look forward to more involvement with the Development Team to get his sharpness back up before he features for the first team again in the coming weeks.
I was absolutely delighted with the performance, and the result, at the weekend. I thought it was no more than we deserved.
We have a huge week of preparations ahead of a tough game. If we can lift 6 out of 9 points from our first 3 games then we would be ecstatic given the level of opposition. We know it will be tough, but that’s the aim.
Our home form has to improve on last year, and there’s no time like the present.

In every team that likes to attack, a strong backline that loves to defend is vital – and that is where the “bald Ramos” comes in!
Quick over the ground, strong in the air & a threat in both boxes, he’s a key player for the Bankies.
⚽️️ JAMIE DONNELLY ⚽️
The 30 year old keeper undoubtedly strengthened the Bankies back-line last season after his summer move from Rossvale.
Strong, confident & very vocal, Troon hope Donnelly will be a busy boy this Saturday.

Clydebank were early visitors to Portland Park last season as well, running out narrow 1-0 winners last July in an entertaining game at the seaside.
For the return match, Troon headed up to Holm Park for some Friday Night Football last December in the midst of a Covid outbreak. A patchwork side led early from a Raymond Montgomerie goal before being outdone by Jamie Darroch & Nicky Little goals, and an unfortunate own goal late on.

The social club at Portland Park will be open from 12pm ahead of the 2pm kick-off, and supporters of both clubs are very welcome.
And given the scorching forecast for Troon this weekend – our beer garden will be open to enjoy some sunshine with a beer! 🍺😎

The bar will close after the 5.30pm game is completed.
Scott will be selling tickets for our half-time draw at the gate before kick-off, and inside the ground throughout the first half for just 50p a ticket.
Our local resident food truck, SCRAN have our hungry supporters covered with their own take on “Football Food” – highly recommended!
They will be open from 10am on Saturday & will be open right through the match til the evening, selling a variety of hot food & drinks as well as cold drinks.
