It’s another vital “three pointer” this Saturday as we head up the M77 to Petershill Park for our 20th WOSFL Premier Division match of the season.

Saturday 11th March 2023
PDM Buildbase WOSFL Premier Division
New Petershill Park, Springburn
Kick-off 2pm
Troon come into this weekendβs game in confident mood, hot on the heels of back-to-back wins over Pollok, Arthurlie & Hurlford which have moved the Seasiders up the table to 9th.
Jimmy Kirkwoodβs men have put a wretched run of results behind them with four wins out of the last five in the league, and with the supporters starting to look up the table the Manager is still cautious of getting ahead of ourselves and is targeting 5 wins out of our last 11 matches to secure our Premier Division status for next season.
Petershill have struggled this season, after the worst possible start to their campaign when Manager Martin Lauchlan resigned in May. Willie Kinniburgh replaced him, but with minimal time to put his stamp on the side, they suffered a disappointing start to their Premier Division return before Kinniburgh also departed Petershill Park. New Management team of Ian Currie & Steven McNeil have steadied the ship considerably & given them a real hope of survival with 4 wins since the turn of the year.
Hereβs everything you need to know ahead of Saturdayβs matchβ¦

Darrell has been a busy man in the treatment room of late, with plenty of knocks & niggles to treat after a run of tough matches, but we look to be getting back to what resembles a full squad again. Or, as close to it as we can get at this stage of the season.
Jamie McKernon made his debut for the club as an early substitute against Arthurlie, while Stephen Wilson made a shock return from the hip injury he suffered against Ashfield, which looked to have ended his season. Michael Aitken has returned to parent club Livingston.
Dale Moore has an ankle issue, as has Raymond Montgomerie, and both will be missing for a few weeks still as they rehabilitate. Ewan McLevy misses out with a knee knock suffered against Rob Roy, but he is hoped to return in the next week or two.

It’s amazing how quickly form can turn in football, we couldn’t buy a win a couple of months ago & now we’ve won 4 out of the last 5 games. And we haven’t really changed much in terms of the way the team is playing, we have just been slightly sharper in both boxes & it’s made the difference.
We had a very tough match against Petershill at Portland before New Year & neither side gave much away, I don’t expect there to be much in this game either. Both teams have improved steadily since that last meeting, Peasy have lifted 4 wins since the start of the year themselves, so sure to be a cracker.

β½οΈοΈ CHRISTIAN NADE β½οΈ
The former Sheffield United, Hearts & France Under 21 frontman was a popular figure amongst the supporters in his time at Portland Park, where he scored 14 goals in 29 starts.
Still with the passion & enthusiasm for the game at age of 38, his talent & ability will give this Petershill side a real focal point in attack.

β½οΈοΈΒ DARREN MILLERΒ β½οΈ
A proper, old school maverick in the days of academy football graduates, Darren is very capable of the unexpected. Comfortable on the right flank, or equally through the middle where he has a real flair for the spectacular.
At his fifth club of a nomadic season, he has spent time with Darvel, Pollok, Benburb & St. Cadoc’s this season. Petershill will be hoping his flair will prove the difference in their fight for survival.

Petershill were the winners of Conference C last season, comfortably finishing top of the 15 team conference ahead of Drumchapel United, Neilston & St Rochβs in what was arguably the toughest group of last seasonβs sections.
Troon started poorly in 2021-22 against some strong teams, but a mid-season surge saw them sitting comfortably in the 8th & 9th for the vast majority of the season before securing their place in the Premier Division for the 2022-23 season.
