Ross Barbour signs

Troon F.C. are delighted to announce the signing of former Kilmarnock man Ross Barbour from Linlithgow Rose for an undisclosed fee.

Ross is starting his third spell with the club, having initially joined us from Stranraer back in August 2016, and he was a very popular player amongst the supporters on the terraces at Portland Park.

He enjoyed a solid season at right-back, although the team’s fortunes were mixed as they were relegated from the Premier Division. He showed his loyalty to the club however, as he was determined to stay & ensure our quick return to the Premier under Manager Jimmy Kirkwood. He impressed in a midfield role the following season as well as his original right-back position as our newly rebuilt young team strived for promotion.

Personal circumstances saw Ross move on, and he was signed by Mark Bradley for East Region giants Linlithgow Rose where he has excelled in a central midfield role, even adding goals to his game.

With him living back in Troon, Ross sought a move back West & we are delighted to welcome him back to Portland Park.

Many thanks to Stuart at Linlithgow for his assistance in facilitating the move, and we look forward to heading through to Prestonfield in July for a pre-season friendly.

Ross goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s Macron Scottish Cup match at home to Kilsyth Rangers, pending the clearance of his paperwork.

Welcome back to Portland Park, Ross!
