Troon F.C. Youth Academy are looking to recruit a highly motivated Head Coach and coaching staff to lead our Under 20 Development Team in this season’s Lowland Development League (West).
Our Academy structure is in place to support a strong Development team, and with our first team going from strength to strength it is a magnificent opportunity to join an upwardly mobile club.
All our coaches must be enthusiastic, good communicators and have a passion for developing young footballers that play an attacking style of football to mirror our club DNA.
Previous coaching experience is necessary, alongside the appropriate qualifications, although coach education will be provided for the right candidates.
Coaches should be able to commit to training during the week and a game on a Friday evening. Training is typically held at Marr Playing Fields in Troon and games held throughout Ayrshire & South Glasgow.
Reporting to: First Team Manager & Head of Youth
Salary: Voluntary role
Contract: Permanent
Hours per week: Six hours a week approximately, which includes two training nights and one match day.

Summary of Duties
- To plan, prepare and implement a well-structured and progressive development plan that mirrors our club DNA
- Co-ordinate the Development Team’s training plan; short, medium and long term
- To deliver quality coaching which will enable players to grow and develop into our first team
- To communicate regularly with the first team coaching staff
- To support the first team
- To support the Academy pathway in any way required
- To enhance our Academy pathway with fresh ideas
- To be responsible for the delivery of training sessions for the development team
- To maintain equipment you are given by the club to carry out your role
- Help with recruitment for our Academy pathway
- To ensure the safety of participants, volunteers and staff are a priority
- To perform other duties as required which are considered relevant to the post and to the objectives of Troon F.C.
- To undertake every opportunity to promote a positive image of Troon F.C.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Minimum 1.3 “Coaching in the Game” SFA Qualification
- Experience in coaching football
- Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues including holding a current SFA certificate
- Have knowledge and understanding of player development
- Being available for matchdays on a Friday evening and training
Desirable
- An understanding of Talent Identification
- An appreciation of Long-Term Player Development
- An understanding of the club DNA
- Attendance at SFA and in house CPD events
- Knowledge and understanding of working with youth players
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Understanding of the SFA Player Pathway
- A recognised First Aid Qualification
