PLAYER BIOGRAPHY

Deano grew up in Glasgow’s Southside and he began his professional football career at Greenock Morton in 2002.

After signing for Morton in the summer of 2002, Deano made his debut for the club in a cup-tie against Queen of the South and was subsequently shown a red card following his tackle on former Celtic winger Brian McLaughlin. During his spell at Cappielow, Keenan operated in a number of roles but mainly either in defence or midfield.

Deano was loaned out to Second Division side Ayr United during the January 2008 transfer window, and he joined Ayr United permanently in May 2008.

Deano was infamous for having scored in the Ayrshire derby in front of the away supporters at Somerset Park. In season 2010-11, he suffered a cruciate ligament injury to his knee which threatened to end his football career. He was signed on again for season 2011-12 as he continued his rehabilitation.

In October 2011, as he was due to have cartilage surgery, he was loaned out to Junior side Kirkintilloch Rob Roy until January 2012, when he was ultimately released by Ayr United.

After being released by Ayr, Deano signed for Troon under Manager Jimmy Kirkwood.

Keenan was appointed Player/Assistant Manager in June 2019.

Deano is now entering his ninth season with Troon, having signed on initially in February 2012, and has been Club Captain for many years before being appointed Assistant Manager in the summer of 2019. Deano has a wealth of experience and is still a massive player for Troon, with his spectacular free-kicks now a trademark.
