Troon forward Stephen Docherty has today joined WOSFL Premier Division side Irvine Meadow XI on a permanent transfer.
The 26 year old forward began his career in the Lowland League with East Kilbride, spending four years at K-Park, before moving east to Camelon in 2021 following the Covid pandemic. He joined Petershill in 2021 where he enjoyed a record breaking season, scoring 34 goals in his one season at Peasy Park before securing a move to Pollok in the summer of 2022.
After a successful loan spell at Gartcairn, he ignited his ‘Lok career & his versatility came to the fore at Newlandsfield, as he showed a threat from both wide areas as well as through the middle, and his goal record of 34 goals in 95 matches showed exactly that.
Stephen moved to Portland Park last June, and he proved to be an important member of the squad in a record breaking season for the club, scoring 8 goals in 37 appearances as Troon chalked up a record 3rd place finish in the WOSFL Premier Division, leading us to promotion at the end of last season. Doc was also an important member of the squad that lifted the WOSFL Cup on that amazing day in May!
Jimmy did discuss a new contract with Doc at the end of last season, but he is keen to make a fresh start to secure more starts and he certainly does so with everyone’s very best wishes.
Everyone at the club would like to wish Doc & his family all the very best for the future!
